You might look like you’re coping on the outside—but inside, something doesn’t feel right. Perhaps you feel overwhelmed by your emotions, stuck in patterns in relationships, or disconnected from yourself. You may have been through experiences that still linger—showing up as anxiety, numbness, self-doubt, or a constant sense of being “on edge.” Even if things seem fine on the surface, something deeper isn’t settling. If that resonates, therapy can offer a space to begin understanding why things feel this way—and what can start to shift.

I want to offer you some encouragement as you scroll through this site looking for a counsellor - it is not easy to do when you're experiencing all sorts of complicated thoughts and emotions. You're here though. You're already doing something to help yourself, and my hope is that you'll find the support you need either with myself or another counsellor. I am qualified and experienced in holding and responding to complex experiences and emotions. However, equally important to the training and experience of a counsellor is how you feel in their presence.

Hello, my name is Andy, I’m a counsellor & psychotherapist based in Finnieston, Glasgow and a Registered Member of BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy). I work with clients (aged 16+) in-person and online. Working online means I’m able to help people across the UK & worldwide. I am a Senior Psychologist offering compassionate and deeply relational psychological therapy, both short- and long-term. People often seek support when feeling stuck, overwhelmed, helpless, or highly self-critical. Sometimes clients describe that they cannot get out of patterns of distressing behaviours, thoughts, or emotions, and that relating to both themselves and others seems difficult, painful, or interferes with daily life and future commitments. I listen carefully, we explore their stories, find ways of understanding. I do not believe in a magical fix, but we all can become more ourselves finding appropriate choices.

You might be someone who looks like they’re coping—holding things together, supporting others—but inside, you feel anxious, shut down, or stuck in patterns that don’t make sense. You may have a history of childhood abuse, neglect, or sexual trauma, or just a sense that something from the past is still shaping how you feel now. You might struggle with trust, boundaries, or feeling safe in your own body. You want space to understand what’s going on, to feel less overwhelmed or numb, and to start making sense of what you’ve been through. You want to feel more connected to yourself and others—not fixed, but more whole.

It's tough opening up to someone but we, via the therapeutical alliance, can create a safe space of trust where there is confidentiality, no judgment and that the client feels comfortable sharing. Here are some testimonials from previous clients for you to ponder: Social anxiety- My gran nearly fainted when she saw me ask someone who works in a shop a question, something I've never done in my life before. Trauma- Thanks so much for all that you've done, honestly you've been a saviour to me. Low self esteem- I've realised I'm stronger than I thought. Depression- You've helped me see that I can get the joy back in my life. Thanks.

Hi, I’m Suzanne. You might be feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or stuck, and sometimes it helps to have someone walk alongside you for a while. The relationship we build is at the heart of the work we do together. I work with both individuals and couples, aiming to create a safe space where you can focus on what matters most to you. I’m also a coach, supporting people through change, personal and business challenges, and sometimes simply helping them reconnect with who they are. Being both a coach and counsellor allows me to connect with people from all walks of life.

Dissociative Disorders (DID) Counsellors
How does therapy for dissociative disorders work?
Dissociation may be triggered by stress or other upsetting circumstances, and therapy can address the traumatic events at the core of an individual’s dissociation. Understanding why a person may dissociate can help the therapist and the individual come up with alternative methods of coping. A person with a dissociative disorder may get stuck on negative thinking, for example, and treatment like Cognitive behavioural therapy is a gold standard for breaking such thinking. And dialectical behaviour therapy, for example, can help a person manage their anguish through better emotion regulation.

Which therapies are best for dissociative disorders?
Specific approaches used by professionals include cognitive behavioural, dialectical behaviour, psychodynamic, schema therapies, among others. Cognitive behavioural and dialectical behaviour therapies are two widely used therapies that can help individuals with painful memories and past traumas. These therapies work to integrate an individual's different identities into one person.

Are there specific medications for dissociation?
There are no specific medications prescribed for dissociative disorders. However, psychosis, depression, anxiety, and/or panic often co-occur in dissociative disorders. A psychiatrist may prescribe medications for any accompanying symptom which may include antipsychotics, antidepressants, or anti-anxiety drugs.

How often and how long are therapy sessions?
Like any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual. Patients may see improvement within 15 to 20 sessions, at an average of 50 minutes per session, others may opt for 20 to 30 sessions over, perhaps, a six-month period. There are still other patients, especially those who have co-occurring conditions like depression and anxiety, who may need to continue sessions for up to 12 to 18 months.
