My ideal clients are adults and teenagers who feel overwhelmed, anxious, or exhausted, and whose nervous systems no longer settle easily. Many experience ongoing sleep difficulties, broken sleep, or a constant sense of being “on edge,” despite understanding what’s going on in their lives. They are often insight-rich and have tried multiple approaches, but still struggle to feel calm, rested, or regulated. They are looking for grounded, professional support to help their nervous system stabilise so rest and resilience can return.

Therapy should do more than help you cope - it should help you truly understand yourself, regain emotional balance, and create lasting change. My approach combines psychotherapy, Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy and neuroscience-based psychoeducation to support meaningful progress in a practical and personalised way. I offer therapy in both Polish and English, allowing clients to work in the language they feel most comfortable in. By understanding how the brain responds to stress, anxiety, trauma, and emotional overwhelm, clients can build resilience, confidence, and long-term wellbeing.

I am a UK-based psychotherapist, person centred arts counsellor, and couples therapist, currently training in psychosexual therapy. I work with individuals and couples to explore the personal meaning of their experiences, navigate existential questions, and understand relational patterns that shape how they connect with themselves and others. I support clients in recognising their needs, values, and desires, while examining how lived experiences, worldviews, and societal influences shape assumptions, beliefs, and ways of relating, fostering self-awareness, insight, and the capacity for conscious, meaningful choices.

The first steps we take on our healing journey can be the most challenging but finding the right therapist to work with that you can trust and feel comfortable with can make all the difference in helping you move forward and feel safe and supported in exploring the issues you are facing. I have always believed therapy should be an informal, authentic and relaxing experience. The therapeutic approach I offer is gentle and empathetic , you will find yourself at the centre of our therapy together building a trusting relationship, valuing your individuality rather than just working with your issue.

My client has no age. You may be a teenager or an adult with rich life experience. You may have tried therapy before, or only now feel ready for it, sensing that you are lost and open to a fresh view of yourself and life. You may live with anxiety and fear, not understanding why relationships fail, or face an identity crisis, or struggle in close relationships. You may also find your relationship with yourself difficult when your inner voice has become harsh and critical. You want relief from anxiety, confusion, and inner conflict, and a calmer, fuller, more joyful life — with space for excitement and tolerance for uncertainty.

You might be feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, weighed down by depression, or caught in cycles of shame that leave you doubting your worth. Perhaps past trauma still shapes how you see yourself or how safe you feel in the world. You want relief, understanding, and a space where you don’t have to pretend. You’re looking for someone who will meet you with compassion, help you make sense of your emotions, and support you in reconnecting with the parts of yourself that feel lost or hidden.

Life can be hard! In fact I don't think any of us can navigate life without experiencing difficulties or painful events. There is also a mountain of self help advice out there, that makes it almost impossible to work out what is best for you and your unique circumstances, when you already feel overwhelmed with life. You might feel lost, anxious, unmotivated, frustrated, resentful or a whole heap of conflicting emotions and you don't know where to start. You know how you don't want to feel - but making it happen feels...too hard. I want to help you. I want you to wake up without that bubbling anxiety in your stomach. You matter.

Hello, I’m Sophie, thank you for reading my profile. Clients often say that when faced with a life issue, it can be helpful to share how they are feeling with someone outside of family and friends. People often feel they have to hide parts of themselves, to cope with the outside world and need a safe space to talk with a meaningful connection to work things through and make the changes they want. As a registered counsellor, I really believe that each of us has the essence and capacity to grow and that your life experiences deserve to be heard.

Neuro-Linguistic (NLP) Counsellors
How does neuro-linguistic programming work?
A therapist using Neuro-linguistic programming might start by building a strong rapport and gathering information about the client’s objectives and any problem areas. Then the NLP therapist will employ NLP techniques to guide their client toward healthier thoughts and behaviours. Clients will learn how to better manage their moods and hone their communication skills. NLP will conclude with the therapist and client making a plan for how to integrate the positive changes into their daily life in the future.

What are some techniques used in neuro-linguistic programming?
NLP therapists often employ anchoring, so the client begins to automatically associate their trigger with a healthier response. Clients also learn how to reframe a situation to change the way they react to it for the better, and how to replace the negative beliefs that are holding them back. Many NLP clients practice visualisation or forming a mental image of themselves attaining their goals. Every NLP therapist will have their own preferred approach with specific techniques that they have found to be helpful for their clients.

How long does neuro-linguistic programming take?
Since neuro-linguistic programming is not regulated, the length of treatment can vary greatly. Some therapists may only use NLP in a single session, while others may employ it over the course of weeks, months, or even years. It depends greatly on the type and severity of the problem being treated, as well as the individual client’s response to NLP treatment.

Is neuro-linguistic programming evidence-based?
While some people may find neuro-linguistic programming helpful, either in therapy or in their career or personal development, the science behind this approach is inconclusive. Most of the available studies are small in scale and have produced mixed results, and the commercial nature of NLP lends itself to conflicts of interest. More research is needed. In the meantime, practitioners must use their best judgment of whether NLP techniques will be helpful in meeting their clients’ individual needs.
