In my practice, I embrace a holistic approach grounded in Person-Centred Therapy (PCT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Here, I view you as a whole person, recognizing the interconnectedness of your thoughts, emotions, behaviours, and physical sensations within the context of your performance or exercise goals. Creating a supportive and collaborative environment is paramount to our work together. Through open dialogue & mutual respect, we embark on a journey of exploration & understanding. Together, we peel back the layers to uncover the underlying patterns & dynamics contributing to any challenges or barriers you may face.

I am also well-versed with the biological underpinnings of depression and anxiety.
Sometimes life doesn’t go the way we hoped — breakups, trauma, or repeated struggles can leave us feeling lost. Therapy is a place to make sense of what happened, rediscover your self-worth, and create a life that feels exciting, meaningful, and worth it—especially for your self and the ones you love.
During therapy, we will uncover the patterns that keep you stuck, build insights, and explore pathways to your healing and growth.
If you feel lost searching for answers with relationship conflict, breakups, feeling different, family conflicts, traumatic experiences, and addictions, Let me assure you, you are not alone.

On the counselling journey with me, I will explore and assist you to trace down to the rootcauses of these symptoms (e.g. palpitations, panic, low mood, anger), and release the stuck parts in you from the past memories and present experiences.
Additional to BACP Counselling Psychotherapy, I am also a certified Mindfulness-based stress reduction trainer. The breathing and mindfulness techniques can ease your anxiety into the sessions. You can take away these exercises and methods for your day-to-day dealing with the stress & anxiety.

I am experienced in working with individuals presenting with various mental health difficulties ranging from mild to severe in terms of complexity. I have worked in both third sector organisations and the NHS.

I specialise in working with people who are stressed, depressed, struggling with their anxiety, and understanding anger and work-related issues.
Here are some feedbacks from my clients after they had counseling: Felt safe & comfortable through the whole process. I asked questions that help them to think a bit deeper. Able to leave the process with skills to move on. I work at their pace. Family and friends could see the change in them.

I specialise in helping individuals navigate anxiety, low self-esteem, stress, neurodivergence, relationship challenges, and life transitions.
My approach to therapy is rooted in the belief that there’s no one-size-fits-all solution. Life is complex, and our needs shift and evolve over time. As a humanist and integrative therapist, I draw on a range of approaches to shape our work together, because no two people experience life in the same way.
For me, therapy is a space where we can be fully human together — a place to sit with the tough questions, explore uncertainty, and gently discover new ways of understanding ourselves. My practice is both neurodivergent-affirming and trauma-informed, offering a compassionate and flexible space for whatever you bring.

I work with a range of complex issues such as anxiety, addiction, depression, grief, emotional distress and anger.
We all deserve both psychological and emotional well-being! Yet, sometimes ‘life’ grinds us down, we often lose our emotional resources and the psychological tools required to live a healthy and empowering lifestyle. As a counsellor and psychotherapist, my focus is to support individuals through distress and times of crisis. Whatever your individual situation may be, my aim is to provide you with support in identifying any changes that can positively impact your day-to-day living; whether this be the development of specific skills, a greater understanding of yourself or your feelings.

I have over 20 years of experience in working with teenagers facing challenges involving a multitude of issues such as anxiety, depression, neurodiversity, relationship and identity difficulties and trauma.
At certain times in our lives, we all need support. I aim to provide a safe, non-judgmental space where I will work closely with you to explore feelings which are holding you back or causing difficulty in day-to-day life. Being properly heard will allow you to find answers and together we will find a way forward. I trained as a Person-Centred Counsellor at the University of Strathclyde from 1995-7. After working purely in counselling for 2 years, I went on to train as a teacher and have worked in education for 24 years. My background naturally led me into the role of Guidance Teacher. I returned to one-to-one counselling in 2022.

For anxiety and mood problems we can work together for your recovery.
Anxiety disorders such as panic, OCD and intense worries can be overcome. As can mood and trauma experiences. Often people try to work their life around the problem rather than overcomeing it and moving on. Sometimes trauma in various forms can be at the root of the cause. Understanding this and working towards recovery can be a very rewarding thing to do.

Life can bring loss, change and many challenges, and it is understandable that at times we might look for support in facing them. I aim to provide a safe confidential space to help you on your journey of self discovery; to enable you to examine your life and make new meaningful choices within it. I offer counselling to adults and young people, meeting face-to-face, by telephone and online, which enables those at a geographic distance to connect with me. I also work for Aberdeen University offering counselling and facilitating psychoeducational workshops to the wider university community.

Maybe you’ve been carrying anxiety, low self-esteem, or unresolved trauma for longer than you’d like to admit.
I offer a warm, steady, trauma‑informed space for people who feel overwhelmed, anxious, or stuck in old patterns. Alongside talking therapy, I specialise in EMDR — a gentle, effective approach that helps the mind process experiences that feel “stuck” or continue to affect you. EMDR doesn’t require you to retell everything in detail.

Do you feel overwhelmed by anxiety, past trauma, or a constant sense that life takes more effort than it should?
I help people calm anxiety, soften harsh inner critics, and reconnect with themselves. We may explore different “parts” of you such as anxious, protective, or self-critical voices, while also paying attention to the body and using creative ways to express what words alone can’t always capture.

I happily work with depression, anxiety, self-esteem, phobias, emotional distress, stress, panic disorder, OCD, PTSD/CPTSD, grief.
CBT and CFT focus on current difficulties with a view to changing the ‘here and now’ understanding how our thoughts, feelings and behaviours are interrelated. EMDR is also a scientifically proven psychotherapy to help people recover from events in their lives which have led to poor mental health. Together we formulate a plan to meet your therapy goals.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
