It's ironic that a large part of psychotherapeutic work is around trying to convince people that their perceived 'abnormal' feelings and behaviours are a completely 'normal' reaction to a set of, often very difficult life circumstances. For instance, why wouldn't someone have a generalised feeling of persistent anxiety and low mood, when they have to live in what seems like a crazy and confusing world? We can work toward a more accepting and benevolent view of ourselves, exploring who you truly are and where you might truly want to go in life, without the harsh inner voices of the past.
It's my job to help you identify self-defeating patterns so that you can find agency for change. Whatever your problems, whether you’re experiencing severe trauma or just struggling with life, therapy can help. Whatever your difficulties, weird thoughts or feelings, we just need to sort things out a bit. This is the first step toward clearer understanding.
After training at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, I went into news broadcasting at the BBC World Service. Later, I spent 9 years in government Scrutiny and although I enjoyed the democratic process, after a considerable period of self-reflection and a revaluation of my life, I went on to train, and found meaning in working, as a psychotherapist.
