I am a qualified Clinical Psychologist. I have worked in the NHS for 10+ years, and offer private sessions to those who wish to reach out for support to create change in their life, or who need space to be listened to and understood. We all have times in our life when we struggle with our emotions, mental well-being and relationships, or feel we have lost touch with who we are and what is important to us. The world and its challenges, or perhaps difficult experiences, now or in the past, can leave us feeling low in mood, anxious or with fluctuating emotions. If you feel this way then I hope to be able to help you.

Hello! I am a qualified BACP MSc Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist. Often we encounter difficult life events which can leave us feeling stuck, confused, and alone. Taking the brave step to engage with therapy can help you to explore repressed feelings, unresolved issues, and past traumas in a safe space. Therapy can furthermore allow you to process personal conflicts on a deeper cognitive level, achieve self-acceptance, and re-establish psychological well-being. My professional aim is to empower, enlighten, and offer an alternative and non-bias perspective for you to consider on your therapeutic journey.

My years of experience as a GP in the NHS mean I understand what it is like to feel that you are running on empty, whether in your work or home life. You may feel low, anxious or troubled. Life might seem like you are wading through treacle. You may have experienced loss: of people, of relationships, of self esteem, of purpose, of security, of youth, of health, of a job… You may be going through change, or feeling the need for change. You neither want nor deserve a prescription for an off-the-peg answer.  My role as a counsellor is to collaborate with you to find your own bespoke answer to whatever brings you to therapy.

What type of mental health professional is right for me?
Some of the most common types of mental health providers in S17 are psychologists, licensed counsellors, therapists, and psychotherapists, all of whom diagnose mental health conditions and provide individualised treatment.

Services offered, education, and credentials vary by type of mental health professional. Each professional in S17 then may specialise in certain areas, such as depression, marriage counselling, or anxiety. Although many mental health providers are not licensed to prescribe medication, they may coordinate with a provider who can.

Both in-person and online therapy sessions are available from most psychologists.
How to find a specialist?
You can refine your search using the filters on this page. There are several categories you can filter by to find mental health professionals with the experience you are looking for. You may want to filter for CBT Psychologists in S17, or Child Psychologists in S17.

Many find it useful to use filters to view only psychologists that have experience working with certain issues, like S17 psychologists specialising in EMDR.

What method of therapy is right for me?
When it comes to treatment methods, there's no 'right way.’ Each method of therapy can be beneficial for a variety of issues. Psychologists in S17 specialise in therapeutic approaches such as CBT, EMDR, and Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), among others. Finding a psychologist or counsellor who is a good fit for you is the most important step to discovering what type of therapy, or combination of therapeutic approaches, will meet your individual needs. Learn what to expect from different types of therapy and how they work.

Can I afford counselling?
Yes. Most counsellors offer reasonable rates or will work on a sliding scale basis. Many accept health insurance. Feel free to discuss this when you contact the counsellor.
