As a registered Clinical Psychologist, I work with children, adults, couples and families to address a variety of psychological difficulties. With almost 30 years’ experience as a psychologist, including 9 years in child and adolescent mental health (CAMHS), I am skilled in a variety of psychological interventions, drawing on different approaches as appropriate. I support adults and young people experiencing low mood, depression, anxiety, stress, loss, relationship issues and interpersonal conflict. In my family work I aim for parents to feel empowered, for children to feel supported, and to foster loving family relationships.
My approach is compassionate, person centred and solution focused, incorporating somatic approaches, mindfulness (ACT and CFT) and spirituality. I use a combination of EMDR and CBT to treat recent or childhood trauma, OCD, anxiety, phobias or panic attacks. In my work with couples, children and families I draw on family systems theory, and attachment theory.
Family and relationships form the basis of our emotional well being. I have a particular interest in helping you think about how your family of origin and childhood has impacted the way you live your life today, and to use this understanding to become more skilful and loving in your current relationships, whether this be as a partner, parent or friend.
