When you are feeling sad, living with depression, anxiety or phobias, life can seem overwhelming. Perhaps you have been diagnosed with Generalised Anxiety Disorder or Panic Disorder? Maybe you and your partner are experiencing relationship issues and not getting along? Perhaps you feel 'stuck' in your life and are struggling with how to move forwards?

My name is Becky, and I am a dedicated and compassionate integrative relational counsellor with a deep commitment to helping individuals navigate life's many challenges.
It’s a beautiful, but very complicated thing, to be a human. There are many difficulties we encounter throughout our lives that can leave us feeling overwhelmed or in distress – and yet so often, we feel as though we must push these feelings down. It takes a lot of courage to reach out and ask for help, to commit the time and energy to your own self-care and healing. Whatever has brought you to this space today, taking these first steps is a huge achievement.

My main therapeutic approaches are Embodied Relational Therapy and I am in Advanced training in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy, working towards registration as a Psychotherapist with the UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy).
Therapy can help people to access inner resources to cope with life’s challenges. Sometimes we forget we have these, or they may appear buried and difficult to access or not sufficient for us as adults. This can leave us feeling diminished, lost, angry, anxious or in despair.

I work within an IFS informed, relational framework which involves Humanistic, Psychodynamic and Solution Focussed approaches.
Modern living can be hard and while we hope that we will be able to cope if we’re feeling low, anxious or distressed; sometimes coping just isn’t enough. Counselling and Psychotherapy can help you find structure and stability when things feel chaotic. It can help when it feels like no one around you understands what it’s like to be you; when the way you feel makes no sense; or if you no longer feel that you're in control.

I am reliable, trustworthy and non-judgemental - traits which make me a warm and relational therapist.
Do you sometimes feel different? Or that what you go through is unique only to you? perhaps you believe things that happen to you are all your fault? Or you struggle in relationships? I understand the need to feel part of the world, not 'messed up' - we are social creatures who often care what people think. And we have a natural desire to be the best person we can be - something to be cultivated. The conflict to fit in, whilst being true to yourself - creates tension, anxiety, depression, poor coping strategies. Plus the modern pressures of life rarely let us 'just be'. The process of therapy can resolve these deep conflicts.

I practice a relational-developmental integrative psychotherapy - drawing upon principles of human development, neuroscience and relationships to understand your story, difficulties and needs.
Hi, I'm Caitlyn. I know how overwhelming the search for a therapist can be - especially when life can already feel overwhelming. Many people turn to therapy because they are struggling with depression and anxiety, processing a loss, wanting to understand themselves better, longing to shift areas of stuckness, living with relational difficulties, or experiencing the aftermath of trauma. Therapy can be a place to engage with your story, be met in your pain, understand your patterns of relating, and feel seen.

My main modality is gestalt, which is embodied, creative and relational, and adapts to each individual client depending on what they are working with.
Have you lost your spark? Perhaps you feel a need to make changes in your life but are unsure where or how to start? Are you struggling with difficult feelings or with regrets about the choices you have made in life? Are you grieving the loss of a friend or family member, or the grief of involuntary childlessness? Is a lack of self-worth hindering your progress in creative projects or decision-making? Maybe you are struggling with anxiety, or a persistent low mood. Maybe it’s several or even none of the above, but something is troubling you and you want to address it through therapy rather than keep looking the other way.

I am an integrative counsellor; psychotherapist and clinical supervisor. My therapeutic practice is based largely on the relational approach, this means I place great emphasis on the relationship between you and I as it is our relationship which becomes the vehicle for your therapeutic journey. Each person is unique and I will draw on modalities that I feel will most suit you and the issues that you present to me. During our sessions I would like you to have as much autonomy as possible but I shall also give direction should you need it.

I am an integrative and relational therapist who will offer you the space to look at what is going on for you in a safe and manageable way.
Welcome... Are you feeling lost in the darkness, just getting through the day and putting on a fake self and smile to others? Maybe you're fearful, people pleasing, keeping busy , avoiding conflict and criticism at all costs? Are you exhausted no matter how much rest you get, sad about the past or anxious about the future? Are you scared of ending up alone, critical of yourself, feel like you're not good enough or that you don't fit in or belong? Are you feeling constantly stressed, over thinking and find it hard to relax or switch of? Is it hard to trust people and let your guard down? I hear you.

As a relational therapist I can support you to explore and understand the relationships in your life.
People often reach out to therapy when they are ready for change. Some people do not even know what those changes might be yet. Your journey with therapy is very personal and you might be interested in understanding yourself better, or simply want a safe and confidential space to talk, get things off your mind. Whatever your thoughts are right now, I imagine you are hoping for something to be different in your life.

I practise relational, developmental integrative psychotherapy because it allows me to adapt my way of working to each person as an individual.
Hello. My name is Lauren. I understand just how daunting it can be to reach out to a therapist; someone you don't know – especially when you are struggling to get by. Sometimes there are no words when things get really hard, and sometimes there are nothing but words. I want to hear your story in whatever way you can tell it, and even if you can't find a way, I want to be there with you anyway; to be a warm, gentle, compassionate presence so you are not alone.

Relational Counsellors

How does relational therapy work?

Relational therapy was developed by psychologist Jean Miller, whose ideas stressed that having strong connections with others encourages better health and well-being when compared with a lonely existence. Conversely, poor interpersonal relationships do not foster growth and learning. Relational therapy also encourages trust in others and patience with others, along with better communication and less conflict.

Is relational therapy evidence-based?

Relational therapy is not well-studied, and it may not be as effective in treating certain mental health conditions when compared with evidence-based treatments like cognitive behavioural or acceptance and commitment therapy. However, relational therapy uses techniques found in cognitive behavioural therapy as well as psychodynamic therapy, which are both well-studied with empirical research.

How long are people typically in relational therapy?

Clients may see improvement after a few weeks or months of therapy. Like cognitive behavioral therapy, relational therapy can reduce symptoms within 10 to 20 weeks, at 45 to 50 minutes once a week. But like any type of therapy, improvement depends on the person and the severity of the problem.

Does relational therapy work?

While no therapy type will work for everyone, some evidence suggests that this therapy can be effective. Relational therapy can help a person manage problematic relationships as well as the mental health conditions that accompany difficult relationships like depression or anxiety. This therapy type may offer benefits that are hard to measure but can be just as valuable—including feelings of higher self-worth or healthier connections with others.
