What does that mean? We will pay attention to your moment-to-moment experience on an emotional, relational and cognitive level.
How can therapy help? The way I see it, the process of therapy enables us to cultivate self-compassion and understanding, which results in more harmonious and satisfying relationships, opens up choices in areas we felt stuck, allows us to be more creative in how we see the world and achieve our goals.

Working with relational issues is at the heart of my work. Healthy relationships and connection are the key to fulfilment, motivation and wellbeing. I offer my clients a pathway to notice patterns of how they relate to their world and build understanding around their behaviours. This naturally leads to awareness which in turn will create choice, empowerment and positive change. I have specialised working with teenagers and young people both face to face and online. Creating safety and trust within the therapeutic relationship is fundamental, from this place grows confidence, kindness to self and others, direction and resilience.

My approach is Integrative Transpersonal which means I draw on various models including Jungian, Humanistic, Existential, Developmental, body, Gestalt, archetypal psychologies as well as psychodynamic theory and neuroscience. The transpersonal includes working with myth and story, poems, the imagination, drawings, dreams and imagery and spiritual dimensions. My way of working is relational. This means the relationship between clients and me is key for the work - what emerges between us is fundamental for the work itself. The soulful approach is a way to respect clients’ sufferings and I aim to support clients to work through them.

I'm a warm and down-to-earth psychotherapist, working both online and in-person in Dalston, London E8 on Tuesdays to Fridays. I offer weekly therapy with adults on a 1-to-1 basis. I've worked with people experiencing anxiety, depression, low self-worth, relationship difficulties, loneliness & isolation, bereavement, conflicts at work or home, traumatic experiences & finding meaning, amongst many other issues. You may have a more vague sense of dissatisfaction and you don't need to be in crisis to find therapy useful; attending regularly can also be seen as an act of generous self-care, bringing greater insight, perspective & ease.

I am a fully qualified psychotherapist working with adults in both private practice and the NHS. Although I have a practice in London I am currently working entirely via VC and able to take on new clients. I work largely in the psychodynamic model but always remain flexible to offer the best possible help. I encourage open-ended therapy for the most opportunity for change, growth, and support but also I am happy to offer time-limited/short-term therapy if that is what might suit you better. I am registered with all the major private healthcare providers should you wish to apply via them. Please see my website for more details

I have been working as a Counsellor and Psychotherapist for over 26 years. I believe that the most important aspect in any therapeutic process is the relationship between the client and the therapist. Through the use of our relationship, I would aim to help you work through the issues you are bringing, regardless of how difficult they might appear to be. Using the trust between us, I would aim to help you come to an understanding for yourself of internal and interpersonal difficulties that have been around with a view to being more accepting of yourself in relation to yourself and others around you.

I am an experienced Relate counsellor, specialising in single and couple relationship counselling. I help you improve communication, resolve conflict, process an affair, and rebuild trust and closeness. If you are having too familiar arguments, feeling unsatisfied in your relationship and considering separation or are just simply exhausted by the demands of young/old family, I am here for you. Talking to someone objectively, with no connection to yourself or your partner, is often all that is necessary to gain a more positive perspective.

Certain life events, transitions, or longstanding struggles can cause our usual ways of coping to break down, leaving us feeling overwhelmed and extremely distressed. To continue to function, drugs, alcohol, food, self harm, sex, social media, a depressive state or abusive behaviour can be used to numb the distress or stand in for what feels missing. But this often leads to feelings of guilt, shame, anger or blame – whether of oneself or others. It can feel like being trapped in a loop of unsatisfactory or harmful relationships, or like reaching a dead-end, with confusion about finding a meaningful path ahead.

Relational Counsellors

How does relational therapy work?

Relational therapy was developed by psychologist Jean Miller, whose ideas stressed that having strong connections with others encourages better health and well-being when compared with a lonely existence. Conversely, poor interpersonal relationships do not foster growth and learning. Relational therapy also encourages trust in others and patience with others, along with better communication and less conflict.

Is relational therapy evidence-based?

Relational therapy is not well-studied, and it may not be as effective in treating certain mental health conditions when compared with evidence-based treatments like cognitive behavioural or acceptance and commitment therapy. However, relational therapy uses techniques found in cognitive behavioural therapy as well as psychodynamic therapy, which are both well-studied with empirical research.

How long are people typically in relational therapy?

Clients may see improvement after a few weeks or months of therapy. Like cognitive behavioral therapy, relational therapy can reduce symptoms within 10 to 20 weeks, at 45 to 50 minutes once a week. But like any type of therapy, improvement depends on the person and the severity of the problem.

Does relational therapy work?

While no therapy type will work for everyone, some evidence suggests that this therapy can be effective. Relational therapy can help a person manage problematic relationships as well as the mental health conditions that accompany difficult relationships like depression or anxiety. This therapy type may offer benefits that are hard to measure but can be just as valuable—including feelings of higher self-worth or healthier connections with others.
