my work is guided by the belief that psychotherapy should be a safe, confidential and regular space in which to talk about feelings, experiences and difficulties, with a therapist you have developed a trusting therapeutic relationship with over time. Understanding how past experiences and relationships can impact on current difficulties can help a person better cope in the future. I provide a warm, empathic and safe proffessional service.

Often people wonder what counselling provides you? Being a psychologist myself, it was during my personal therapy sessions, I experienced the safe place to grow and learn that therapy offered me. I genuinely take a person or client centered approach to support your growth and wellbeing. Being non-judgmental for me is the key for me to allow the person to explore and understand themselves. Often bringing in psycho-education, I have notices allows the individual to make sense of what they may be experiencing and that facilitates a change or shift in the direction they may expect.

I am an accredited Psychotherapist and Counsellor in private practice and work with non-judgment and compassion. You may be feeling anxious, stressed or depressed, and generally noticing yourself lacking motivation and not enjoying activities that used to bring you pleasure. You may be struggling in your relationships or overwhelmed at work, feeling angry a lot of the time. Your coping strategies may be increasingly unhelpful, and manifesting in unhealthy behaviours. I support my clients to facilitate change & growth to move forward to a place of recovery and hope.

As a psychotherapist, I prioritise getting to know the whole person and deeply value the unique relationship that grows within the therapeutic relationship. I have a special interest in compassion focused therapy and have extensive experience in working with families who have experienced separation, divorce, domestic abuse, anxiety related to exam stress or career changes. My practice lends to a combination of trauma informed models, CBT, mindfulness and relaxation techniques which are tailored to the client’s specific needs. I have extensive training in the treatment of sexual abuse, domestic abuse and teenage anxiety.

I am an empathic, approachable and experienced (5yrs) Humanistic Integrative LGBTQ affirmative counsellor. I also integrate CBT into my practice particularly when working with anxiety. I have facilitated numerous Wellbeing Support Groups for Dorset Mind including 2 LGBTQ peer-support talking groups and an anxiety support group. My private practice was based at Over the Rainbow Sexual Health Clinic in Bournemouth for 5 years where I have had the privilege of working with a variety of LGBTQ people experiencing numerous Wellbeing Challenges including:Post Traumatic Injury, OCD, Depression, Social Anxiety and Emotionally Unstable PD.
