It can seem like the hardest thing to do to access counselling, but it can be life changing if you take that first step. You may not be entirely clear on what you want but just have a feeling that things don't feel right and you have decided that you want to understand what, why and how to refocus and live the life you feel is best for you. Or perhaps you are very aware of a struggle with difficulties, which may already be formally diagnosed by another professional, and you want to regain some control instead of feeling that these issues take over. I can support people in achieving their goals wherever they are in their journey.

Client's will be able to understand the historical and systemic influences to their problems and to find ways to create change both for themselves and others that they associate with. Many of my client's also have unresolved trauma that influences their day to day interactions, relationships, psychological state and/or physical health. They would hope to be able to make sense of both their mood and beliefs but to also be able to find ways to reprocess or clear any related trauma, make sense of associated anxiety, stress, behaviours and negative beliefs, to find ways to manage, think and behave differently and find new strengths.

So I have a young person aged 15. There is evidence of self harm and 2 overdoses -neither life threatening but a call for ' I need help and to be listened to'. I need to look at where these issues are coming from, is there intent to commit suicide, give that young person tools and strategies for doing something differently when there is a possibility for further self harm. They want an alternative so we look at triggers, noticing what is happening inside their body, what their negative automatic thoughts are, We set SMART goals, from something very small -they need to be able to achieve the goals, and then increase these slowly.

These include different forms of anxiety, depression, psychosis, complex trauma, emotional dysregulation, and interpersonal difficulties and have extensive experience of offering therapy in different formats; individual and group.
Hello! I’m Eleonore. I am a clinical psychologist and I enjoy working with my clients as much today as when I first started out over 10 years ago. The thing I value most in my work is seeing my client’s self-understanding and sense of mastery grow. I work in a compassionate, committed, and concerted way with the main aim of supporting clients to bring about change in their lives. In terms of the specific therapeutic approaches I use, I draw on different evidence-based models and adapt to my clients’ needs; the ultimate goal is for clients to take forward and diversify learnings beyond therapy.

Working in partnership with children, young people, adults, families & professionals around issues that matter to them by finding a joint focus of our work, using my own knowledge & that of the client to help them make a meaningful change in their lives. Sometimes one knows what hurts them & what they need to address; at other times, finding the focus & courage to push through can be the toughest thing. I work gently with compassion, clarity & commitment to the essential needs of all my clients.

I also have deep interest in working with people who have experienced psychosis, and related illnesses.
I work integratively, my training was in existential psychotherapy. This means I believe that life is naturally going to present struggles and that we need to navigate our way through life's givens: loneliness, anxiety and death are all givens of our life. I believe that the goal of therapy is to create space to reflect and align oneself with one's values and understand our limitations. I believe that trauma has a lasting impact on our bodies and minds, and that through understanding the mind-body connection, healing can ultimately take place. I currently hold a post working in GP practices with the NHS.

Psychosis Counsellors

What’s the most effective treatment for psychosis?

The most effective treatment for psychosis is coordinated specialty care. In this model, a team of professionals works with a patient to address all aspects of the underlying disorder. This approach incorporates individual or group therapy, employment and education support, family support and education, medication management (which often involves low doses of antipsychotics), and case management to facilitate problem-solving as needed.

When should people seek treatment for psychosis?

People should seek immediate treatment at the earliest indication of psychosis. Symptoms include delusions, hallucinations, disorganized or blocked speech, and agitated body movements. Early signs that a person may be developing a disorder that will lead to psychosis include suspiciousness of others, memory problems and distractibility, an inability to think clearly, rapid or nonsensical speech, withdrawal from friends or family, aggression toward others, and sensitivity to bright lights or noises.

What if psychosis is left untreated?

Without treatment, psychosis can have significant repercussions, including injuries, job loss, homelessness, financial or legal trouble, ruptured relationships, and suffering for the person and their family. While early treatment for psychosis often yields the best results, there is no point past which it becomes useless to seek treatment. At any point, treatment can make a difference.

How do I get someone else to seek treatment for psychosis?

It’s extremely difficult to watch a loved one suffer from hallucinations, delusions, and other elements of psychosis—sometimes exacerbated by their fears of treatment. Have a conversation with them in a quiet space and maintain a calm, supportive tone. Share your concerns about behaviors you’ve observed, suggest treatment, and explain the potential benefits. Listen carefully to their responses. The person may not be ready after one conversation, but with time, they may come around.
