Choosing a therapist can be a tricky task, there are just so many! As a guide, a big factor for therapeutic success is 'connection' - also known as 'the therapeutic alliance'. There is little you can see from a profile but perhaps take a moment to pause and check inwardly whether there is potential for a good therapeutic relationship. This practice is known as 'focusing'. I frequently use this method to help my clients access edge of awareness experiences that often were part of their life for many years. If you'd like to explore parts of yourself that you find burdening or at least unhelpful my approach may be of help.
With regards to specific issues, I specialise in anxiety related issues such as GAD, OCD and panic . I have also a special interest in working with Trauma. Other issues I frequently work with include low self-esteem, depression, work related issues, relationship issues, anger and bereavement. However, my overall goal is for you to be your best self!
If we are looking for change we need to accept ourselves first. As the psychologist Carl Rogers put it “The curious paradox is that when I accept myself, just as I am, then I can change.” Therapy is the path to authenticity, self-compassion and behavioural change.
