There are lots of reasons why you might decide to come to counselling. You might be struggling in your relationship with yourself and others, or identifying that you are stuck in different patterns that aren’t working for you. You might be looking for support to explore something difficult that has happened, or be realising that old coping strategies aren’t working for you anymore. I’m an integrative counsellor, which means that I use different approaches to respond to what it is that you need. I will support you to reconnect to parts of yourself that might feel, so that you can be more authentic in your life and relationships.
I work with you to make connections between how you think, feel and behave; understanding how the past impacts you in the present. I provide a space where you can feel really listened to, and safe enough to feel difficult feelings. I have often supported people who have experienced trauma, including sexual violence and domestic abuse, and LGBT people.
Reaching out for counselling can feel scary and bring up a lot of uncertainty. I'm here to come alongside you in all of those difficult feelings; I want to meet you where you are, not where you want to be. Whatever your worries are, I would welcome the chance to explore with you what you need from counselling, and whether I can help.
