Professor Patrick McGhee is a CBT therapist and Chartered Psychologist. He has a 1st Class Honours Degree from the University of Glasgow and a PhD from the University of Oxford. In 2017 he was a Visiting Fellow/Scholar at the universities of Cornell, Yale and MIT. He has taught, researched or practised in psychology and therapy for 30 years. He was a Research Fellow in Psychiatry and Psychology at St George's Hospital Medical School, University of London. He is the author of Thinking Psychologically (Palgrave) and co-editor of Accounting for Relationships. He currently works in private practice in Chorley and Bolton.
I can help clients address the challenges they face through a focus on thinking, behaviour and values. In CBT the therapeutic relationship is a collaborative one, focusing on how the therapist can help the client take better control of their life. I am currently working with a wide range of individuals and couples who want to change for the better.
Going into therapy is tough. Helping those you love move into therapy is tough. I will begin our conversation from where you are, but CBT works because it sometimes challenges what you think and what you do. If you are ready to be challenged, then we are ready to talk.
