I work with clients of all ages. Many of my clients bring unconscious trauma to our sessions and we work together to help unravel the origins of the trauma. In my person centred approach, the client builds an understanding of how the trauma has impacted their life and affected the relationships with those around them.
I endeavour to create a safe, non judgemental environment and I am conscious that the therapeutic space should offer conditions appropriate to the clients needs.
I trained as a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist and following 23 years working in the NHS I have been working in private practice since 2013.
The work of Carl Rogers has informed my practice throughout the years. I hope I am patient as I realise that a calm environment can enable the client to explore their feelings with minimum distraction.
Someone once asked me why bother looking at the past if we want to change. Where I live and work in Kings Lynn I often joke with the local people that they answer a question with another question. I guess I might soon be considered local as I answered that question with..how can we ever know how far we have travelled, if we don't know from where we set out.
