I work with adults, children and adolescents who would like a safe place to explore and make sense of feelings, thoughts or relationships. Sometimes talking with someone helps to work out what you want to do next and see clearer what choices we have. Art and creative materials can often help children and young people express themselves more clearly. Being a parent is rewarding, but hard work, with each unique relationship requiring different responses. Together, we find a way to understand the challenges more clearly, make sense of the emotions and behaviours involved and take decisions on the ways you want to go forward.

I'm passionate about helping mothers thrive. Many of the mothers I work with come to me carrying a huge amount of guilt and shame because motherhood so far is not what they had dreamed of. Perhaps they are constantly anxious about doing the 'right' thing, or anxious about their baby's health. Perhaps they are struggling to get through each day without feeling completely overwhelmed by their child's needs. Maybe they cannot find their own way for the sea of other people's opinions. In their heart they know that something is not right, but it has perhaps been hard to find the space and time to find a way forward.

I am an experienced qualified counsellor and I offer short, medium and long term therapy depending on your need. I offer a range of counselling therapies to suit your needs and I specialise in Transactional Analysis, a model of counselling that promotes personal growth and change.

My aim is to provide you with an opportunity to explore what is happening for you and how you would like things to be different. I would like you to have a space in which you can feel safe, allowing you to develop an understanding of yourself and the steps you need to make so you can live the life you want to. I aim to help you to simplify complex situations so that they make sense to you. This can offer clarity so that I can support you to take practical steps to make changes. I have a strong interest in the biopsychosocial approach, considering a variety of factors which lead to you being who you are.

I work with children and young people with a range of emotional and behavioural difficulties, including trauma, difficulties at school, within the family and friendship issues as well as anxiety and low mood. I have a special interest in the assessment and post diagnostic support of children and young people with Autism/Asperger's and tic disorder/ Tourette’s Syndrome and in particular girls on the autism spectrum. In addition to senior clinical positions within the NHS and the private sector, I have taught at doctorate level on clinical psychology training courses and regularly offer supervision.

Hello! I'm Richard. You may have arrived here as you may be experiencing some distress or navigating a specific struggle and are hoping to find some clarity in what’s going on for you. We all experience difficulties occasionally and life can be challenging sometimes. Finding a therapist that is right for you is key, particularly because mutually nourishing relationships with others are essential for your emotional wellbeing. It is normal and healthy to seek support because we don’t have to face any issue alone. It’s okay to want to find the missing piece of your puzzle.

I am am an empathic, respectful, fully qualified psychotherapist. I also offer supervision to trainee counsellors and therapists. I am the owner and practice manager of Inner Space Counselling Ltd. in central Tunbridge Wells/Sevenoaks. I view counselling and psychotherapy as a dynamic process, created between the two of us so I offer my clients the opportunity to work collaboratively with me in a safe, non-judgemental environment. Typically, my approach to psychotherapy is to play an active part. I intervene, reflect, share theory if appropriate, and ask questions. I am relaxed, straightforward and non-judgemental.

I work with people who are undergoing a difficult time, have experienced major loss or trauma, and those for whom the very business of living seems a constant uphill struggle.
