Hello, and welcome. As an experienced psychodynamic counsellor, I specialise in working with children and young people between the ages of 10-25. For children and young people, it can often be difficult to understand or express their emotions. This can lead to overwhelming, confusing or stuck feelings, perhaps resulting in low self-esteem and struggles with relationships with others, and themselves. Counselling and creative therapy offers a safe and supportive space to explore emotions, and develop an understanding of their thought patterns whilst building communication skills and emotional resilience.

Finding the right therapist is really important. I'm an intergrative therapist and use differebt modalities to help my clients celebrity on their needs. I also like to work creatively, where appropriate, using Russian dolls, paints, stones, sand trays and pictures for example.

I have been working as a Psychodynamic Counsellor for the last 9 years, but have been working with young people and families for the last 25 years. I started as a Residential Care Worker in a children's home, then went onto to work for Suffolk County Council as a Family Support practitioner. Since qualifying as a counsellor in 2015 I have had experience with a very large and varied range of problems. I have a lot of experience with adolescents, but I can work with any age group. My approach is psychodynamic, down to earth and friendly. I believe in the therapeutic relationship as the most important path to better mental health.

When we are thinking about accessing counselling therapy, it can be tricky to know how to proceed especially if we have had a poor prior experience or if this is a new venture. Practitioners need to be mindful that each person is an individual snd need to feel valued as such if they are to find - through therapy - what it is they would like to achieve for themselves. It can be difficult to know what we may want from this process but, often having such a want is enough to spur us on.
