Hi I'm Kate, welcome to Believe Therapy and thank you for taking a look at how we may be able to work together. I know how daunting starting therapy can be, so I'd like to assure you that I will absolutely bear this in mind when we chat for the first time. I will take the time to build a trusting relationship and an offer safe space where you will be listened to and your feelings will be validated. There are many reasons people turn to therapy, from understanding the impact of traumatic events, managing relationship difficulties or coping with anxiety and depression. Whatever your goal we will explore this together.

Life can really be shit sometimes, right? If you are feeling stuck, confused or frozen and want things to change then getting therapy is a great idea. In therapy you can experience being truly listened to. For many people this is an entirely new experience. Therapy is a safe and confidential space, where you can explore your experiences, thoughts, and emotions openly and honestly.

Often, I hear the phrase “others have it far worse than me…” and where there may be a truth in that phrase, I believe YOU are just as important. This is the ethos of my practice. I offer a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space for you to talk, be heard, your personal experience validated and for positive change to occur. I have also experienced personal therapy so understand how daunting the first step can be; at first I found it scary, challenging but always supportive and it gave me a greater self-belief and deeper understanding of myself that I continue using today.

Hello and welcome! My name is Klaudia. Finding the right therapist is so important. I know from my own therapeutic journey what a massive difference to the quality of life and mental health can a suitable therapist make. If you think you might be struggling with anxiety & depression, trauma coupled with PTSD, with low self-esteem or gender identity, we can have an up to 30-minute free chat over the phone or online. Maybe I'm the therapist you are looking for. :) I usually take clients on the back-to-the-past journey and help them unearth events, patterns and scripts that are holding them back and causing them emotional pain.

I remember the first time I sought out therapist, how daunting it was, and that was after acknowledging within myself I wasn't happy with how my life was working out. The word "Autopilot" comes to mind. This is a troubling time, and then faces the challenge of choosing the right person. I understand your struggles to get this far, and commend your effort so far. It is also important to note the relationship between the therapist and client, which is where the work is done. Choosing the right person, with the right empathy is so important, and you may not get this right first time. So lets take a leap of faith and start here.

Acknowledging that you are struggling to cope with the daily life is hard and the first step to taking control of your life. Often people don’t feel that their problems are worth contacting a therapist about, as "others have it worse" and try to push the uncomfortable feelings away and carry on. Therapy isn't about blaming yourself or passing responsibility it's about working together with another individual to validate your experiences and understand your patterns of behaviour. We will then work together to help you make positive changes for a more fulfilled life. I am a therapist and supervisor and work with teens and adults.

If you're feeling confused, overwhelmed or anxious, are struggling to gain clarity on how to move forwards right now, and want to find your next steps, I can help you. It can be difficult to make sense of our experience - our mind's a busy place at the best of times, and especially so when we find ourselves pulled along by strong currents of confusion or over-thinking, stress, anxiety, and worse. Asking for help with our difficulties can feel like a huge step, a last resort perhaps as we struggle to find the solutions we need to move forwards.

The decision to have counselling is a really brave one, and it might be difficult to know if it’s the right time for you. You can have counselling for all sorts of reasons, and there’s no such thing as a right or wrong one. You might be feeling overwhelmed or anxious; perhaps you’ve experienced a bereavement or a relationship breakdown, or you might not know what the reason is, and that is okay. Sometimes therapy is difficult, and it can bring up things that are hard to face, but you don’t have to do so alone.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

Counsellors and Psychotherapists listed in the directory are members of the main professional associations, mainly the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). Most Psychologists in the directory are accredited members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and/or are registered in the Health and Care Professions Council (HPCP).

Providers whose professional membership or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Given that professional memberships are not a statutory requirement for psychotherapists and counsellors in the UK, certain qualified professionals or organisations may choose not to maintain such memberships despite possessing the necessary qualifications. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?

Counsellors, psychotherapists and psychologists can all provide counselling or talking therapy and have credentials and experience that enable them to do so in the UK. Psychologists have earned a degree in psychology and many are members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and have completed a postgraduate qualification in a specialism. Counsellors and Psychotherapists are not required to have a psychology degree, but to belong to a professional organisation such as the BACP or UKCP, they are required to have completed a training course as well as clinical and supervision hours.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the UK could be between £30 - £60 when seeing a counsellor and £60 - £150 and up when seeing a clinical psychologist. If you have private insurance, your plan may cover some if not all of your sessions. You should contact your insurance provider to determine if they provide coverage for therapy sessions and to determine what, if any, requirements they might have in order for your sessions to be covered, such as a referral from your GP or medical specialist.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

If you are struggling to access therapy due to budget constraints, you could also consider public funded mental health services. The NHS Talking therapies programme offers free of charge counselling for common mental health problems like anxiety and depression. The service is available to anyone registered with a GP, though you do not necessarily need to be referred by your GP and can refer yourself directly to a Talking therapies service. The service will provide different solutions, including group and individual therapy, for a limited number of sessions which are generally up to six.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Therapists who are part of a professional organisation such as the BACP, the UKCP, or BPS are bound by an ethical framework that requires them to uphold a confidentiality agreement. Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship and only under specific circumstances, such as when there has been participation in a criminal act or act of terror, or if there is potential or known harm to the client or others, will a therapist be obligated to break the agreement. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed during the initial consultation.
