We offer help informed by the most recent research, to relieve distress, improve your life, and achieve your potential. We are trained in a range of therapies, to offer you an evidence-based approach, tailored to your needs. We set up the London Centre for Applied Psychology because we believe that getting help when you feel overwhelmed should be as normal as going to your GP when you have a persistent cough, or unexplained pain. Therapy and coaching work: the overall effect size for therapy is larger than the success rate for flu vaccines; and 75 percent of people who come to therapy are better off than those who don’t.

I cannot imagine an ideal client, each person is so unique. At the moment most of my clients suffer with anxiety or depression, a lack of confidence in themselves. But the needs are similar, a desire to become autonomous, to find a new direction and a self belief, to feel able and capable and change their outlook. To blend different therapies to suit individuals needs according to their personalities.

Hi, Kasia Cole here - a practising psychotherapist and an academic for over a decade in London. I created the Balance Psychotherapy APP for those who can’t be in psychotherapy, it’s not a right time at the moment, or you are in psychotherapy and you would like to deepen your experience in-between sessions or possibly speed up your healing. It is a unique programme that developed from the need of my clients to work with affect in depth and to balance it in their every day life. This is its strength and uniqueness - it works directly with emotions! Of course - I can always meet you for sessions.

I am a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, registered with the BACP. I work with individuals and with couples for short term and long term periods. I provide a safe and confidential space for my clients to talk and explore the challenges they are facing and how this impacts their life. I respect the individuality of my clients, their experience and capacity to decide and choose their own destiny. You may have a goal or outcome you'd like to achieve, but often you may not, and this is okay. I work relationally and believe the supportive and trusting relationship between myself and my clients helps facilitate change and a way forward.

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine, fluoxetine, and sertraline, among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
