Issues such as pressure at work, relationship difficulties, significant life changes, or bereavement may be among the many challenges and complexities of life. In response, anxiety, depressions, low self-esteem, and stress may arise. Additionally, feelings of isolation and difficulty in finding a sense of meaning and purpose can emerge. Perhaps you are or have experienced any one or a mixture of these challenges, amongst others. Or you may simply want to gain a greater understanding of yourself and your world. Therapy can offer you a space to feel heard, understood, and supported to process and navigate your experiences.

It can be so hard to reach out when you need help. A problem or worry can be something from the past or a current situation that leaves you overwhelmed and unable to move forward. Maybe you instinctively feel something needs to change, but don’t know how to make that happen. Training in different modalities enables me to work flexibly and holistically, adapting my approach to meet your needs. My approach to counselling is underpinned by the belief that everyone can change and heal, provided their environment facilitates growth. I aim to provide such an environment whereby you are equipped to take action for yourself.

Many people tend to suffer from anxiety, tension and anguish for too long before reaching for help. It takes courage to enter into therapy, and it takes courage to confront our problems. As a clinical psychologist, what I offer you is a calm environment in which, with total confidentiality, you will be able to deal with any difficulties you are experiencing with the professionalism that you deserve.

Does life feel like its getting on top of you? Could you benefit from a place to take some time-out? At certain times we all experience difficulties and doubt, go through life transitions (career change, divorce, new relationship, mid-life crisis) or discover patterns in our lives that are un-supportive. Seeing a counsellor or psychotherapist can help you face these challenges and turn them into an opportunity for personal growth.

Sometimes it’s difficult to share anxieties and concerns with family and friends and this can sometimes create profound sense of loneliness. Whether it be anxiety, depression, pressure at work, relationship or family issues, bereavement, sexual issues, low self-esteem, ADHD/ or Autism diagnosis, or simply an indescribable feeling of flatness. You no longer need to feel alone

I am a psychodynamic counsellor and psychotherapist registered with the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC). I worked for five years providing long-term psychotherapy to individuals with histories of addiction and childhood trauma. This gave me an understanding of the extent to which adverse early experiences can impact on behaviour and psychic functioning in adulthood. Since then, I have undertaken post-qualifying training in the treatment of PTSD, C-PTSD and trauma-related dissociative disorders. I have a particular interest in states of depersonalisation and derealisation and keep up to date with relevant research in this area.

Life can bring many challenges, and therapy is a space to learn to cope with emotional setbacks in a creative and positive way. I view my role as supporting people to understand themselves better and make changes in their lives. I have a specialist interest in high-functioning, high-achieving individuals who find themselves unhappy and burnt out. I also work at the Nightingale Hospital, Marylebone and I have previously worked at Maggie’s, a not-for-profit provider to the NHS for people with cancer and their loved ones. I really enjoy helping people to improve their well-being and create lives that are meaningful to them.

An aspiring Counselling Psychologist nearing the end of training, and a registered counsellor/psychotherapist with the BACP. In addition to private practice, I have three years' NHS experience, working with depression, anxiety, long-term health problems, addictions, personality disorders, bereavement and psychosexual issues. I adopt an assimilative approach to therapy, tending to predominantly draw upon psychodynamic theory (more specifically attachment theory), where focus is on the psychological roots of emotional suffering.

Life itself is complex and through no fault of our own brings up many challenges that can lead to worry, anxiety, self-criticism, stress and low-esteem to name a few. As a clinical psychologist, I am flexible in my approach and work with a range of difficulties. I strongly believe therapy can be such a rewarding experience and the importance of creating a safe space in offering a non-judgemental and compassionate place for a person to feel heard and understood as we work together towards what is important to you. As such, issues relating to past or present, it is a space to create self-awareness and further move towards your values.

I have been working as a qualified therapist in London for over two decades offering evidence based therapies. My roles within the NHS have been both clinical and managerial and offering both one to one and group therapy. I work with clients presenting with a wide range of difficulties who wish to develop self awareness, make changes and build resilience. For many, these difficulties may appear as a dip in mood, feeling stuck, or an increase in anxiety. For others, they may feel lost, overwhelmed, or experience a lack of purpose.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
Counsellors and Psychotherapists listed in the directory are members of the main professional associations, mainly the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). Most Psychologists in the directory are accredited members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and/or are registered in the Health and Care Professions Council (HPCP).
Providers whose professional membership or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Given that professional memberships are not a statutory requirement for psychotherapists and counsellors in the UK, certain qualified professionals or organisations may choose not to maintain such memberships despite possessing the necessary qualifications. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?
Counsellors, psychotherapists and psychologists can all provide counselling or talking therapy and have credentials and experience that enable them to do so in the UK. Psychologists have earned a degree in psychology and many are members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and have completed a postgraduate qualification in a specialism. Counsellors and Psychotherapists are not required to have a psychology degree, but to belong to a professional organisation such as the BACP or UKCP, they are required to have completed a training course as well as clinical and supervision hours.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
How much does therapy cost?
The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the UK could be between £30 - £60 when seeing a counsellor and £60 - £150 and up when seeing a clinical psychologist. If you have private insurance, your plan may cover some if not all of your sessions. You should contact your insurance provider to determine if they provide coverage for therapy sessions and to determine what, if any, requirements they might have in order for your sessions to be covered, such as a referral from your GP or medical specialist.
What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?
Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.
If you are struggling to access therapy due to budget constraints, you could also consider public funded mental health services. The NHS Talking therapies programme offers free of charge counselling for common mental health problems like anxiety and depression. The service is available to anyone registered with a GP, though you do not necessarily need to be referred by your GP and can refer yourself directly to a Talking therapies service. The service will provide different solutions, including group and individual therapy, for a limited number of sessions which are generally up to six.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.
Are therapy sessions confidential?
Therapists who are part of a professional organisation such as the BACP, the UKCP, or BPS are bound by an ethical framework that requires them to uphold a confidentiality agreement. Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship and only under specific circumstances, such as when there has been participation in a criminal act or act of terror, or if there is potential or known harm to the client or others, will a therapist be obligated to break the agreement. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed during the initial consultation.
