Life can sometimes feel confusing, painful, or uncertain. You may be struggling with anxiety, low mood, loss or bereavement, or a sense that something is missing, even when everything seems “fine” on the surface. Perhaps you’re trying to make sense of past or present experiences, or you find yourself asking questions about identity, meaning, and direction in life. I offer a calm, compassionate, and safe space where you can explore your challenges without judgment. Together, we’ll look at your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours to help you develop a deeper understanding of yourself and others.

What if you knew why you felt different from everyone else? What if you knew why your brain wrecked, your concentration? Job? Relationships? Do you often feel like there was a class on starting, maintaining and ending conversation but you missed it? Do you feel overwhelmed if there is too much noise or too many people talking at once? Or maybe you HAVE to do something and that you cannot just relax and do absolutely nothing? Do you feel physically exhausted but you mind is still racing and will not let you sleep? If this sounds familiar and you are looking to understanding why this happens, then I might be able to help.

Issues brought to therapy include early years trauma - including abuse and neglect; life crisis/crises - a result of either work or relationship breakdown; addictions; anxiety; depression; low self-esteem and self-worth; or grief and loss (whether of loved ones or opportunities). Long-term work involves explorations of relationships - both inter-personal (me and the world), and intra- personal (my relationship with myself).

Based in Northamptonshire, I offer a calm and supportive space to talk where you can feel heard, understood, and accepted just as you are. Together, we can explore what feels most important. Many people seek counselling when facing anxiety, low mood, grief, stress, or relationship challenges. Therapy offers a chance to slow down, reflect on who you are, and gain clarity about how you want to move forward. At your own pace, we can talk things through, explore your feelings, build confidence, and find a way forward that feels right for you.

In our work together, we’ll gently explore what’s been weighing on you, understand the patterns that keep showing up, and find new ways forward that feel more aligned and empowering. I often work with people who feel like they’re carrying a lot—managing anxiety, self-doubt, people-pleasing, or the pressure to hold everything together. You might find yourself stuck in the same relationship patterns, questioning your worth, or feeling burned out from trying to meet everyone else’s expectations. You're thoughtful and self-aware, but you're ready for deeper support and real change.

You’ve spent years second-guessing yourself, and now you’re trying to remember who you were before all the self-doubt. Maybe you've been made to feel like you're the problem - too sensitive, too emotional, too much. You second guess yourself constantly and feel responsible for everyone else’s wellbeing. Over time, that can take a real toll on your self-worth and leave you carrying a level of anxiety that’s hard to switch off, even when things are "fine." My clients are insightful and caring, but often stuck in survival mode. I offer a calm, trauma-informed space where you can explore what’s really going on beneath all the coping.

I offer a warm non judgmental space where you can explore your experiences, be they past or current, and begin to see how they may be affecting your life. I bring a warm, grounded presence and where it feels right a sense of humour and lightness too. Therapy doesn't have to be serious all the time. Sometimes a shared laugh or a moment of light relief is just as healing as tears. I love to work creatively and with, and in nature and offer walk and talk therapy. this can take place from my practice where we have access to countryside and forestry or in a convenient green space near you.

Finding it hard to settle into college/university, a new job, life as a new parent or life in a new place? Do thoughts like “Am I good enough?, I can’t do this” follow you everywhere? Are painful past experiences or constant worries about things going wrong keeping you awake at night? If so, you’re not alone. I help people uncover what’s keeping these difficulties going and teach evidence-based skills and techniques to break free from the cycle. This stage of life may feel overwhelming, but it can also be transformative. Together, we’ll work on releasing what no longer serves you and uncovering a healthier, more resilient you.

My aim is to offer my clients a supportive and safe space for them to explore and work through their challenges. This means that I actively listen to my clients, working collaboratively together to find a new perspective and approach to their situations to enable them to make the positive steps toward their goals and in their lives. I believe that counselling isn’t a ‘one size fits all’ process and together we will work out a process that best works for you. Finding a solution to understand or accept something that has been holding you back is a positive step.

I believe that the relationship between you and your counsellor is as important as the approach, cultivating an environment of trust in order to explore the issues that are impacting your life right now. Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

Counsellors and Psychotherapists listed in the directory are members of the main professional associations, mainly the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). Most Psychologists in the directory are accredited members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and/or are registered in the Health and Care Professions Council (HPCP).

Providers whose professional membership or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Given that professional memberships are not a statutory requirement for psychotherapists and counsellors in the UK, certain qualified professionals or organisations may choose not to maintain such memberships despite possessing the necessary qualifications. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?

Counsellors, psychotherapists and psychologists can all provide counselling or talking therapy and have credentials and experience that enable them to do so in the UK. Psychologists have earned a degree in psychology and many are members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and have completed a postgraduate qualification in a specialism. Counsellors and Psychotherapists are not required to have a psychology degree, but to belong to a professional organisation such as the BACP or UKCP, they are required to have completed a training course as well as clinical and supervision hours.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the UK could be between £30 - £60 when seeing a counsellor and £60 - £150 and up when seeing a clinical psychologist. If you have private insurance, your plan may cover some if not all of your sessions. You should contact your insurance provider to determine if they provide coverage for therapy sessions and to determine what, if any, requirements they might have in order for your sessions to be covered, such as a referral from your GP or medical specialist.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

If you are struggling to access therapy due to budget constraints, you could also consider public funded mental health services. The NHS Talking therapies programme offers free of charge counselling for common mental health problems like anxiety and depression. The service is available to anyone registered with a GP, though you do not necessarily need to be referred by your GP and can refer yourself directly to a Talking therapies service. The service will provide different solutions, including group and individual therapy, for a limited number of sessions which are generally up to six.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Therapists who are part of a professional organisation such as the BACP, the UKCP, or BPS are bound by an ethical framework that requires them to uphold a confidentiality agreement. Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship and only under specific circumstances, such as when there has been participation in a criminal act or act of terror, or if there is potential or known harm to the client or others, will a therapist be obligated to break the agreement. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed during the initial consultation.
