Hi thank you for visiting my profile. I work in an integrative way which means I use different counselling techniques depending on what works best for, you, the client. I believe in a person centred approach which helps clients to reconnect with their core values and sense of self-worth. This approach, along with other tools, can help facilitate the client's personal growth by enabling them to explore and utilise their own strengths. I also use CBT when appropriate and psychodynamic therapy.

This is generally achieved with psycho-education and new thinking styles are challenged with suitable CBT tools.
Hi my name is Rosa and I love to tailor a therapy for my clients, my holistic approach does not merely focus exclusively on your thinking style. Working with me will allow you to reconnect your mind body and soul so it becomes easier to understand unhelpful thinking styles which may be triggering anxiety and in turn lower your physical and emotional well-being.

Sometimes life can just feel out of kilter and we don't know why, or the weight of every day life is heavy. When we feel like this it can be helpful to have someone to talk to who is not already involved and invested in your life. Whilst I work across the spectrum of mental health concerns, I specialise in trauma therapy. Trauma therapy is suitable for anything from single incident events, birth trauma, Troubles related events, first-responders, complex childhood trauma, relationship trauma (and more), whether there is a diagnosis of PTSD or not.

I have supported people when things are feeling too much and are becoming overwhelming. Things we have to do can build up and up and it can feel like they are forming a brick wall that we need to find a way over. Do you feel this way? Is it a struggle to cope? Do you have racing thoughts, or thoughts that are so loud that you can't focus on anything else? Do you have so much to do that you don't know where to start and you just can't relax? Are you in a safe and supportive relationship now, and feel like hurtful or traumatic experiences from your past are getting in the way of day-to-day life or you fear conflict?

CBT looks at how thoughts impact on our feelings and behaviours and how this cycle is maintained.
Acknowledging that something doesn't feel quite right and that we may need help and support can be very challenging for us to accept. In a world where anxiety, stress and depression seem all consuming, it can be hard to see a light at the end of a very dark tunnel. That's where exploring your difficulties with a trained professional can help. Working together as a team, we will work collaboratively to help you reach your goals in therapy and equip you with the tools to become your own therapist.

From talking therapy including CBT, to therapeutic art and play for children, each client is an individual and therefore their counselling should be individually tailored for them.
Adults, children and adolescents all need a space to explore and express their experiences, and for some this tends to be more difficult as they struggle to understand what they're feeling, never mind find the words to describe them to someone. People often find that when they voice their experiences, feelings, and worries, and confide in a professional who can offer support and help them make sense of these, they feel heard, understood, and often a little lighter from sharing the weight of these. I aim to help my clients to feel that little bit lighter.

We discuss the recent problems you have experienced and can look to understand this within the CBT model.
Do you feel depressed, overwhelmed, anxious or stuck regarding how things change? I love working with people and offering space, expertise and empathy to find clarity in a moment when everything seems out of control or overwhelming. At your pace, we explore how you currently feel and begin to understand and make sense of your current experience. With knowledge of your past & in becoming aware of how current thoughts, emotions and behaviour interact and how difficulties are maintained, we'll uncover what needs to change. I then hope to empower and give you the confidence and method to make these changes.

No matter how robust we are, most of us at one time or another can face difficult times due to family, work or other personal issues. Sharing the impact of these distressing times can help with finding the resources to ease distress and consider which best next steps to take. I am fully accredited with both BABCP and BACP and my approach is largely, although not exclusively, cognitive behavioural. I have a particular Interest in anxiety and in trauma work and am trained in EMDR and Trauma- focussed CBT which are the two current gold standard NICE recommended evidence based treatments in this area.

I use a wide range of professional approaches such as CBT, trauma informed practice, creative and inner child work and person centred.
There are times in everyone’s lives which can be really tough, such as experiencing depression, ongoing anxiety, low self-esteem, loss or too many things happening at once and the body has got stuck on feeling 'what is going to happen next' . I am professionally trained to Masters level in Counselling Psychology and have a passion for counselling and psychology. I offer a confidential space, which encompasses warmth, kindness and openness to give individuals the opportunity to discuss emotional concerns.

Cognitive Behavioural (CBT) Counsellors

How does cognitive behavioural therapy work?

Cognitive behavioural therapy works by exploring how your thoughts affect your emotions and experiences. CBT helps you identify distortions in your thinking. For example, you may tend to jump to the worst case scenario catastrophising or think in extremes (all-or-nothing thinking). A therapist can teach you how to push back against those thoughts to ultimately change your feelings and behavior for the better. They can also provide coping skills to better deal with stressors and challenges.

When do I know to seek treatment with cognitive behavioural therapy?

It’s reasonable to consider cognitive behavioural therapy if you struggle to manage difficult emotions or behaviors to such an extent that you are not getting the most out of life on a day-to-day basis. If you want a shorter term, concrete, skills-based approach, CBT is a great option. (By contrast, other types of therapy may devote more time to exploring your past and its effects.) The decision to seek CBT also depends on the condition you’re treating; CBT is an effective treatment for anxiety, depression, trauma, and many other disorders.

How can I find a cognitive behavioural therapist for someone else?

To find a cognitive behavioural therapist for someone else, you may want to begin by discussing the person’s problem, researching cognitive behavioural therapy, and assessing whether the approach is the right fit. You could then reach out to a few cognitive behavioral therapists in this directory, explain the scenario, have a consultation with those available, and determine who could be a good match.

Why is CBT such a popular form of therapy?

CBT has become a popular form of therapy because it is effective and accessible. Robust research has demonstrated that CBT is an effective treatment for many mental health conditions. And CBT can be learned in relatively few sessions, which means that many people can engage in the process, afford it, and see results quickly. It involves learning concrete skills such as disputing unhelpful thoughts; these skills can also be taught and spread widely.
