As an integrative therapist I pull from modalities such as cognitive behaviour therapy - which can help with exploring our thought processes, behaviours and the impact that has on your emotional state.
My experience in psycho-education and counselling has focused on supporting individuals living with stress, mental illness & suicidal thoughts. I've supported people who aren't sure what to do next with situations & relationships, or are struggling with feelings of overwhelm or depression. Most people who I've worked with just don't want to be in pain anymore, but everyone's needs & wants are different & it's important to get to know you & meet you where you are on your journey.

Welcome to my counselling page. I’m glad you’re here, as it means you’re taking a significant step toward understanding yourself and improving your well-being. Life can be overwhelming, and many of us struggle with relationships, feelings of isolation, and the relentless cycle of overthinking(anxiety). This can lead to us shutting down or being irritable over the smallest of tasks causing low mood.I understand these challenges deeply, as I have navigated similar emotions myself. The journey to self-awareness and emotional resilience has taught me valuable lessons that I now share with my clients.I can help with change!

I am trained in Systemic Psychotherapy, CBT, ACT, Mindfulness, Play Therapy and EMDR
Life can throw many challenges and sometimes we can get a bit stuck and not sure what to do to change the situation. I understand that it can be difficult to ask for help but seeking some help is the first step to improving your situation.. Sometimes it is easier talking to someone out side your family circle or friendship group about an issue that is causing you or your family distress and instead to talk to a professional therapist I offer a free 15 minute consultation if you are unsure if talking therapy can help. Therapy can help build self esteem, reduce anxiety , improve relationships with family and peers .

We use a range of EMDR, IFS, CBT, Person Centred, Psychodynamic, Somatic and Creative Approaches.
Progeny is a charity with multiple therapists supporting teens and young adults who have walked through difficult experiences. This includes healing from the impact of wounding such as rejection, abandonment, emotional, physical, or sexual abuse, as well as cruelty, terror and neglect, whether encountered in early childhood or later in life. Such difficult experiences often increase anxiety and damage self-worth (shame) leading to panic, withdrawal/isolation and corrupted internalised beliefs. Beliefs that whisper, 'I am unseen, unsafe, unworthy, and unlovable'. We help people to feel safe again and to restore their worth.

Whilst my therapeutic approach mainly falls within the realms of CBT and associated 'Third Wave' approaches, I cherish the fact that first and foremost you may simply be looking someone to sit down and discuss your problems with at this stage.
Hello. Thank you for taking the time to read what it is that I may have to offer you. As you will likely know, we tend to seek out therapy at those times in our life when we are experiencing some form of distress. What that distress may look like will vary between individuals, and how people may name or label that distress will also vary considerably. What I can offer is first and foremost the opportunity to be with another human being during this time of distress. During this time, together we will seek to better understand your current difficulties - your fears and hopes, your disappointments and pain, your losses and hurts.

Cognitive Behavioural (CBT) Counsellors

How does cognitive behavioural therapy work?

Cognitive behavioural therapy works by exploring how your thoughts affect your emotions and experiences. CBT helps you identify distortions in your thinking. For example, you may tend to jump to the worst case scenario catastrophising or think in extremes (all-or-nothing thinking). A therapist can teach you how to push back against those thoughts to ultimately change your feelings and behavior for the better. They can also provide coping skills to better deal with stressors and challenges.

When do I know to seek treatment with cognitive behavioural therapy?

It’s reasonable to consider cognitive behavioural therapy if you struggle to manage difficult emotions or behaviors to such an extent that you are not getting the most out of life on a day-to-day basis. If you want a shorter term, concrete, skills-based approach, CBT is a great option. (By contrast, other types of therapy may devote more time to exploring your past and its effects.) The decision to seek CBT also depends on the condition you’re treating; CBT is an effective treatment for anxiety, depression, trauma, and many other disorders.

How can I find a cognitive behavioural therapist for someone else?

To find a cognitive behavioural therapist for someone else, you may want to begin by discussing the person’s problem, researching cognitive behavioural therapy, and assessing whether the approach is the right fit. You could then reach out to a few cognitive behavioral therapists in this directory, explain the scenario, have a consultation with those available, and determine who could be a good match.

Why is CBT such a popular form of therapy?

CBT has become a popular form of therapy because it is effective and accessible. Robust research has demonstrated that CBT is an effective treatment for many mental health conditions. And CBT can be learned in relatively few sessions, which means that many people can engage in the process, afford it, and see results quickly. It involves learning concrete skills such as disputing unhelpful thoughts; these skills can also be taught and spread widely.
