Welcome to my profile. I am a Counselling therapist based in the Mid Ulster Area offering Face to Face, Online and Telephone appointments. At the beginning of my career I gained extensive knowledge working for 2 years in a GP Surgery before starting out in private practice. I have a specialized interest in Anxiety Disorders, Depression and Bereavement, however, I am happy to work with any life issue. My personal approach to counselling is equipping you with a variety of tools and techniques from the beginning and then progress to exploring experientially with you the issues that have brought you to counselling.
Do you struggle with panic attacks or anxiety, feeling depressed, or are you being troubled with intrusive thoughts or symptoms such as chronic tiredness, or have you chronic pain such as fibromyalgia? I, Dr Maureen Stevenson, am a retired GP who has trained in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy. I find that many people have been traumatised in their lives, and suffer both mental and physical symptoms following these traumatic experiences. Many of us have suffered developmental trauma, this can leave us more susceptible to be adversely affected by difficulties later in life. Sensorimotor Psychotherapy can help us heal and find new hope.
I am a fully qualified and accredited Counsellor working in the Mid Ulster area. I also have a Bsc (Hons) Applied Psychology and have spent many years working in the field of Behavioural Neuroscience and research, a GP medical practice and schools. My approach is warm, direct, and engaging with an emphasis on building trust and using the therapeutic relationship as a medium for change. I strive to create a space to explore patterns in relationships, emotional expression, and practising new ways of thinking, feeling and being. My private counselling service is founded on clinical excellence informed by up to date research.
I have 8 years post-qualification experience supporting clients with a range of issues, including grief and loss in its many forms. I offer person centred counselling and am qualified to integrate CBT skills when desirable and appropriate. The goal for clients is generally to gain insight and support when changing unhelpful thinking and ultimately Behavioural patterns. I offer a safe and non judgemental space for my clients to talk in confidence.

I in Clear Vision counselling would like to support you in a safe space to tell your story - to help you try to understand your story and to allow you to heal in your story. I work as an integrative counsellor as it allows you to tell your unique story - and focus on your journey.
The clients who attend CBT tend to have difficulty in mood or/and high levels of anxiety. The aim of therapy is to assist the client in establishing how their mood and anxiety are linked to their negative thoughts and/or behaviours. I am always aware that the person is an expert in their own life and my role is to help them navigate this by offering the space to look at alternative perspectives. As a BABCP Accredited CBT therapist, I believe my role is to help the person become their own therapist. In assisting in the treatment of lowered mood and anxiety, my role is to help establish and build upon coping strategies.
I have experience working with clients with various issues, I particularly enjoy working with clients experiencing difficulties with self-esteem, anxiety, addiction, trauma and relationship issues. I have found great satisfaction working with men's issues and sexuality I have lots of experience working with men and women in their late teens to early 40s. Clients are normally nervous coming to counselling and I endeavour to create a non-judmental and relaxed environment for you to explore your issues and find solutions that suit you and your lifestyle best.
Thank you for taking the time to look at my profile. I appreciate how difficult it can be to take that first step towards Counselling. Having a safe place with someone who will listen to your needs without judging you can be a powerful way to help you to explore issues that may be troubling you.
