Self Esteem Counselling in Belfast
I have supported people when things are feeling too much and are becoming overwhelming. Things we have to do can build up and up and it can feel like they are forming a brick wall that we need to find a way over. Do you feel this way? Is it a struggle to cope? Do you have racing thoughts, or thoughts that are so loud that you can't focus on anything else? Do you have so much to do that you don't know where to start and you just can't relax? Are you in a safe and supportive relationship now, and feel like hurtful or traumatic experiences from your past are getting in the way of day-to-day life or you fear conflict?

Hi I'm Carole, thanks for checking out my profile. I have always been interested in people, how we all experience our world, and how life events affect us. I understand that we can have difficulties with thoughts, feelings, circumstances and relationships leading to confusion, low self esteem, lack of confidence, stress and difficulty coping with life. The effects of the Covid 19 pandemic have resulted in more stressful situations, with less effective coping skills, due to isolation, bereavement, fear and lack of opportunity to look after our mental health as we previously did. I understand your experience is unique to you.

Hi thank you for visiting my profile. I work in an integrative way which means I use different counselling techniques depending on what works best for, you, the client. I believe in a person centred approach which helps clients to reconnect with their core values and sense of self-worth. This approach, along with other tools, can help facilitate the client's personal growth by enabling them to explore and utilise their own strengths. I also use CBT when appropriate and psychodynamic therapy.

A high achiever with fierce determination & ambition? Keep reading... For me it was a Prep & Grammar school education with a win mentality, second best was never an option. An ongoing career in a ruthless music industry as a professional female drummer. What was the result? Burnout & exhaustion, Anxiety, Depression, Low self-esteem & confidence, crippling perfectionism, setting high expectations that were impossible to reach & constant feelings of failure. Whether it be a high powered career, creative arts, sports and athletics or perhaps being brought up in a society that expects too much - you are not alone.

Counselling is beneficial for many mental health concerns: grief, anxiety, depression, realtionships, low self esteem, trauma etc.
I am an Integrative Therapist who has been practicing in both private and community sectors since 2015. I am originally from South Australia and Belfast has been my home for 12 years now. I believe that self-awareness and happiness are not a destination and toxic positivity takes us further from who we are. We can become stuck in what has happened to us (depression) or fear what may happen to us (anxiety). Tabula Rasa means clean slate "Where there is nothing, there is the possibility of everything". That slate exists in the present moment and by exploring what your life means to you, you can create a meaningful life.

I am a BABCP accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist with experience providing psychological assessment and support to children, adolescents, and adults. CBT aims to provide a reflective model within which we can develop a deeper insight to our experiences and emotions, and to understand the impact of these on our daily lives. Often times, struggles such as anxiety or depression are a maintained by thoughts which have become stuck in negative cycles. CBT helps to identify these negative thought patterns and to challenge them, helping to highlight new perspectives and reduce the negative impact.

Self Esteem Counsellors
When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?
When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.
What are the signs of low self-esteem?
Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.
What causes low self-esteem?
Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.
How can therapy improve self-esteem?
Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
