I've over 15 year's experience working with wide range of issues, including the impact of difficult experiences, situations or behaviors that bring shame, confusion, isolation, or relationship difficulties. These can be hard to talk about, even with loved ones - often leaving people reluctant to seek help and manage alone. I understand how emotions, patterns and behaviours can develop and the role they can come to play. I provide a non-judgmental and accepting space where you don't feel you have to explain or justify your experiences.

You want real change — genuine movement in what matters most right now, not just insight for its own sake. My clients are people willing to go into difficult material and come out the other side with something actually different. Together we look at the patterns that keep recurring and what's driving things beneath the surface, while staying focused on where you're going: what you want your life to look like, and the strengths already in you to build from. This is purposeful, active work, and you'll feel it moving.

If you are in the process of considering counselling/psychotherapy then finding the right therapist is the most important decision to make. Research shows positive therapeutic outcomes are based on the relationship between therapist and client. A good way of assessing if we can work well together is attending a free of charge session; no commitment beyond this, to see if I can help you to identify further what your needs are.

Are you struggling to cope with a significant event or change in your life? Sometimes trying to navigate through life alone can be confusing, and speaking to friends and family can often be too difficult. Talking to a neutral counsellor can provide you with the support you need. I have worked as a counsellor with Cruse Bereavement, helped navigate suicidal ideation in Pips, and completed Relate training to help with relationship difficulties and better understanding of emotions and old relational patterns. I am an integrative therapist and a member of BACP.

Hi, I’m Callum, a registered Art Psychotherapist with the HCPC. I know that life can feel overwhelming at times, and taking the first step towards therapy can be daunting. If you’ve found yourself here, you’ve already taken a brave and important step, just by looking. Sometimes, it’s hard to put into words how we feel. That’s where art psychotherapy can help. What is art psychotherapy? Art psychotherapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses creative processes as a way to explore thoughts, feelings, and experiences. You don’t need to be “good” at art, and there’s no pressure to create something perfect or polished.

Often we feel we cannot share issues with family or friends, for fear of impacting these relationships or attempts at being rescued, where all we need is to be listened to. Often we are experiencing emotional turmoil, doubt , guilt, fear or sadness to the point we perceive ourselves as carrying the burden alone. This is the opportunity for you to be heard, to explore and consider solutions and new possibilities for the future in a non-judgemental and collaborative therapeutic relationship. We can explore the past, the present or we can explore future plans and/or work on solutions to current problems.

Men's Issues Counsellors
Is therapy for men different than it is for women?
Therapeutic treatments and types are the same for men as they are for women, with the same protocols followed and the same strategies employed. Discussing one’s feelings and emotions is an integral part of most therapies, and some men find doing so more challenging. Therapists can help clients through the process; some specialize in treating men for this reason.

How do you encourage a man to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either himself or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can men prepare for therapy?
Men can prepare for therapy by approaching the process with an open mind, being willing to talk about their challenges, and giving treatment the time to work. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. It can be useful for men who struggle to recall their emotional states to write down notes between sessions about their response to a given event or how they were feeling at a particular time.

What should men know about the process of therapy?
One of the most common reasons men don’t seek therapy is the notion that there’s something wrong with them if they do. Men should know that just because they’re seeking therapy doesn’t mean they’re mentally ill or damaged in some way. In the same way people work on their bodies through exercise or a craft through practice, therapy can be a way to improve the mental and emotional skills needed to be productive and effective partners, employees, and people in all realms of life.
