Counseling can address a range of issues that individuals may experience in their personal lives, relationships, or mental health.
Everyone can find it difficult to cope at times, unresolved issues past or present can create stress, anxiety, depression....and may affect your day to day life. Counselling can help you understand these issues more clearly, giving you the space to untangle the confusing, painful feelings and thoughts that may be causing you distress. It is important to find someone you feel comfortable with and who you can trust.

Whether it’s anxiety, low mood, relationship conflict, self-esteem issues or identity struggles.
I believe counselling is a unique and personal experience, where you can breathe, feel at ease and simply be yourself. Healing takes patience, you don’t need to be fixed. I’ll listen actively, help you make sense of what’s going on and gently guide you toward change and self-understanding.

The relationship between therapist and patient is fundamentally important.
I have years of experience working with addiction and substance misuse, however dealing with these issues has shown me that a substance misuse or a dependency is generally a coping mechanism or mask to other underlying issues. I also have specialism, dealing with suicidal ideation, and helping families deal with suicide's aftermath. I am trained in EMDR

I have a diplomas in Therapeutic Counselling and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, a degree in Psychology and Health Science and professional certificate in Couples Counselling.
Hello, I’m Tim. I’m an integrative counsellor combining Psychodynamic, Person-centered and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) models. This means I adapt my approach for every client, tailored to their individual needs. I’m passionate about mental wellbeing. We all have mental health and need to look after it, just as we do our physical health. Counselling is one such way of doing so, putting some time aside to concentrate on you and your needs. This kind of therapy provides a confidential, safe and non-judgmental space for you to reflect and explore your thoughts and feelings, address life challenges and improve your wellbeing.

Stuck in our heads and our feelings, in relationships, work, obsessions and compulsions, stuck in unhelpful behaviours and unhelpful ways of seeing things.
This is therapy and counselling. And this is more. I’ve found that our wellbeing can thrive with ongoing supportive structures to guide and inspire us. So, included in the therapy, I’ve curated and simplified the proven life approaches we explore together and centred them on-line, so you can return to them at any time. It’s called ‘The Bulb Booth'.

FAQ - About Couples Therapy
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
