I have experience of working with depression , relationship issues, anxiety and bereavement, as well as working with suicidal thoughts and self harm.
If you are in the process of considering counselling/psychotherapy then finding the right therapist is the most important decision to make. Research shows positive therapeutic outcomes are based on the relationship between therapist and client. A good way of assessing if we can work well together is attending a free of charge session; no commitment beyond this, to see if I can help you to identify further what your needs are.

Clients I work most successfully with have a desire to sort out relationship(s), present or past. They will be open to discover their own needs, issues and aspirations and to own these and, if a present relationship, to enter into mutual understanding of what each can bring to and gain from that relationship. They will find the possibilities of change from attitudes and thought patterns created by or brought into the relationship. Other clients will bring an openness to discover why and how their issues, grief, fear, loneliness, low self worth or anxiety/ depression have formed and engage in the journey to wholeness.

Do you feel depressed , overwhelmed, anxious or stuck regarding how things change? I love working with people and offering space, expertise and empathy to find clarity in a moment when everything seems out of control or overwhelming. At your pace, we explore how you currently feel and begin to understand and make sense of your current experience. With knowledge of your past & in becoming aware of how current thoughts, emotions and behaviour interact and how difficulties are maintained, we'll uncover what needs to change. I then hope to empower and give you the confidence and method to make these changes.

I have 13 years of experience working as a Trauma Therapist. Initially, I worked within the NHS and treated trauma alongside PTSD responses to birth as a midwife and trauma therapist. My private practice developed more broadly, working with anxiety, depression , PTSD, dissociation and relationship stresses in any of life's circumstances. I am happy to work with almost any general life issue. Grief, sexual or other abuse, rape, and lifelong bullying are frequent concerns in therapy, and couple therapy is of particular interest. I use EMDR, Rewind, Trauma-focused CBT in a person-centred approach and work with clients online

When life gets busy, it can be easy to forget how we are really feeling. Everyday we are faced with some form of barrier which can be stressful and at times hard to cope with however, these could also be triggered by unresolved events from the past. Not only can this affect our mood but also, our bodies, emotions, feelings and thoughts about ourselves, the world and others. With the professional relationship between client and therapist at the heart of therapy, working collaboratively with a counsellor can support you in understanding these issues and achieving your personal goals.

Hello and welcome, I see you made the first, very important step. You came to realisation you have a problem and that you need professional support. I can help you to specify, name, give a meaning and assist you in your way to recovery of your mental balance while keeping you on the course you chose.I strongly believe that Clients know themselves the best, therefore are the experts of the “knowledge of themselves”; however sometimes they need support to uncover or unblock the inner resources. If you are considering some counselling/therapy, it is important to work with a therapist that feels right for you. A good way to see if we might be able to work together is for us to have a conversation. This is why I offer the first session free-of-charge; a no obligation meeting for you to see if I can help you to begin to identify your needs. My experience includes working with people who struggle with anxiety; low mood; bereavement; and loss and also those who have suffered trauma; those who have suicidal thoughts; and those who have self-harming behaviours.

Adults, children and adolescents all need a space to explore and express their experiences, and for some this tends to be more difficult as they struggle to understand what they're feeling, never mind find the words to describe them to someone. People often find that when they voice their experiences, feelings, and worries, and confide in a professional who can offer support and help them make sense of these, they feel heard, understood, and often a little lighter from sharing the weight of these. I aim to help my clients to feel that little bit lighter.

Hello, I’m Tim. I’m an integrative counsellor combining person-centred and psychodynamic models. This means I adapt my approach for every client, tailored to their individual needs. I’m passionate about mental wellbeing. We all have mental health and need to look after it, just as we do our physical health. Counselling is one such way of doing so, putting some time aside to concentrate on you and your needs. This kind of therapy provides a confidential, safe and non-judgmental space for you to reflect and explore your thoughts and feelings, address life challenges and improve your wellbeing.

Depression Counsellors
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.

Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy by depression counsellors in Sydenham, Belfast. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.

Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
