At any time in our lives we may struggle to cope – this can be because of bereavement, breakdown of relationships, difficulties at work or loss of employment, physical illness, mental ill health such as anxiety or depression, traumatic experiences or just because we are not happy with life in general.
At such times, it can be helpful to talk to a counsellor who will listen with empathy, understanding and without judging you. As a qualified registered counsellor, I will provide you with a safe space in which to explore your difficulties and find your way through them. I work with adults from age 18 up.

At your pace, we explore how you currently feel and begin to understand and make sense of your current experience. I then hope to empower and give you the confidence and method to make these changes.

As well as listening and discussing important issues, I also suggest strategies for resolving problems and, if necessary, help you change, or when working with couples consider how your relationship fits for both of you.
I am a registered and highly qualified psychotherapist with over 30 years in both the NHS and private sector. I offer a protected space to talk about your problems and feelings, confidentially and in confidence. My process is to listen carefully to your concerns trying to fully understand and experience what it’s like in your shoes. I then consider how to you deal with negative thoughts and feelings you have. Sometimes in my work, in the endeavor to understand, I try to get to the heart of things. Listening carefully to your problems trying to find out what's causing the difficulties and then helping you to find solutions.

Hello and welcome, I see you made the first, very important step. You came to realisation you have a problem and that you need professional support. I can help you to specify, name, give a meaning and assist you in your way to recovery of your mental balance while keeping you on the course you chose.I strongly believe that Clients know themselves the best, therefore are the experts of the “knowledge of themselves”; however sometimes they need support to uncover or unblock the inner resources. I encourage taking responsibility for yourself, “can do” attitude to stimulate your mental healing and growth process.

I believe it is impossible to "have the ideal Client", as my experience has shown me we really don't know where the story is going until you build up the connection and confidence between you and your client. I always focus on making the clients feel that they are in a safe place and that this place is for them. It is also important that the client and I are open and honest with each other, in order to avoid any misunderstanding between you and the client with regards to their needs and the best course of therapy that is required. I have found that the more ownership and input the client has during the sessions the better outcome,

I work online with individuals and partners, on a long or short term basis.
I am a person-centred therapist who primarily works with people who are members of ENM, kink and LGBTQ+ communities. Each of these aspects of our identities are so multifaceted that it can feel overwhelming sometimes. I want to work with you to help you understand yourself, your needs and how to move towards that. Allowing ourselves to let go of who we were, embrace who we are and get out of old thinking patterns can be a lifelong mission, one that is much easier with support. I can work with you as you explore yourself. My practice is based on compassion and honesty, and collaboration is incredibly important to me.

FAQ - About Couples Therapy
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
