I work with individuals who are struggling with all kinds of issues, such as depression, anxiety and stress, questions of identity, personality problems, relationship issues, bereavement, addictions, abuse, anger management and many other difficulties. Sometimes problems can be difficult to articulate, like feeling lost, confused, or like something just isn’t right. Often we can face problems that feel so ingrained that we might feel there can’t be a solution. We might feel ‘it’s just who I am’. I am also an experienced couples therapist. Most fights between couples are rooted in the pain of loosing connection with each other.
People often suffer not only with the issues they are struggling with but also with a feeling of guilt that they are feeling bad in the first place. They might wonder ‘why can’t I just sort this out myself, or snap out of it’. The starting place of my work is for us to work together to identify the real root of the problem. There always is one.
Once the reason for the bad feelings are fully understood, once the problem is clearly framed, this can quickly bring a feeling of relief. ‘No wonder I feel the way I feel’. The person I work with begins to feel understood and to trust the process of the therapy. Many people over the years have said how profoundly their therapy has changed their lives.
