If you are experiencing addiction or compulsions that are impacting on your life, or those around you, counselling can help you to discover and address the roots of that and to make changes that improve your wellbeing and sense of control.

Most addictions can be traced to originally being a solution to some form of earlier problem - a solution that has then gone wrong and become a problem in itself. We can explore where that started and work on alternative ways of coping/managing that gives you back control of your life.

Addicts, as people can describe themselves, may have tried to 'give it up' and not achieved what they wanted to do. That doesn't make them failures, it means that they've probably started from the wrong end of the problem. Without minimising the physical effects of addiction we can look for the roots of the addictive behaviour and address it from that end.
