I am a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and have spent my career in Adult Mental Health services in the NHS, supporting people individually and in groups. My clinical practice aims to foster increased psychological flexibility to support becoming more emotionally open, cognitively flexible, aware in the present moment and actively engaged in a meaningful life. Between life’s busyness and navigating struggles we can become disconnected from ourselves and what matters to us, spending our days trying to cope rather than living. With compassion we can create a space, a gap within the struggle, to heal and reconnect with your life.
I use a range of clinical models (Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Schema focused therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, EMDR, trauma focused CBT, relational & attachment based approaches) to support the range of issues that can show up including, anxiety, depression, low self esteem, shame, relationship issues, PTSD, complex trauma, insomnia, OCD and burnout.
By understanding what is creating issues in your life, historical and current, we can choose particular strategies to begin to move out of old patterns and towards experiencing and accepting feelings, letting go of self stories and having insight into behaviours that are keeping us stuck as well as those that leave us feeling more engaged and alive.
