My name is Sara, I am a dance movement psychotherapist and creative clinical supervisor. I specialise in working with people who have been affected by brain injury or stroke and I am currently studying for a PhD in the family experience of brain injury. Although this is my specialism my experience spans working with people of all ages and abilities who are neurodiverse, have had a brain injury or stroke and disability. I work in a trauma-informed humanistic way, meaning I work with you from where you are at and build a trusting and supportive therapeutic relationship, this is fundamental to working through your issues effectively.
As a dance movement psychotherapist I work with the body-mind connection, there are opportunities to work creatively to explore your issues, set goals and be curious. I work verbally, non-verbally and creatively. To access creative therapy you do not need to have any creative or dance experience, I will support you through your process.
I have a lived experience of disability and neurodiversity that informs my approach to working with you. I am here to listen to and support you, to connect more deeply with yourself and others. Often the body holds more than we are aware of, I will support you in making sense of how your body is speaking to you in a safe and supportive way.
