About

I have worked as psychologist, psychotherapist and family therapist since 1993. I have worked in many contexts including: a senior practitioner in NHS mental health, in global organisations working with employee burnout, stress and anxiety, and with couples and families experiencing conflict and separation. I support clients during difficult life transitions including divorce, redundancy and bereavement. Many are experiencing anxiety, depression and struggling with various addictions. Our work explores what else is going on beyond the problem, and reaches towards deeply buried, forgotten inner strength.
I work with body and mind responses to stress and difficulty. First I support you to notice and regulate bodily stress which helps you to think and remember with more clarity and calm. When you feel less stressed you are more ready to enter into a deeper exploration of difficulties and problem habits, which are often influenced your childhood experiences.
Please visit my website and my Psychology Today blog to find out more about my work. I offer a highly professional service grounded in thirty years of training and practice. Our work involves talking and reflecting deeply on your experiences, trying out your learning by making real-life changes and developing patience and self-compassion to support growth.

Beyond Threat (based on the acclaimed book)

Learn how biological heritage (nature) and individual experience (nurture) combine to create who you are and motivate what you do. Become more aware of, and understand, the unconscious forces that trigger your reactive or unwanted feelings, thoughts and behaviours. Learn ways to manage your emotions – particularly those of your threat brain - to become more resilient and centered in yourself and your relationships. Explore and find strength to deal with life challenges that throw us off centre such as redundancy, workplace stress, divorce, bereavement, ageing and ill health
