"Therapy offers a private and sacred space to think, feel and experience your true self, it explores your needs, it processes feelings, and from this comes a new clarity, and you may feel different, clearer. I sometimes think of it as coming out of the dark woods and into the light. This transforming of the self takes place at first within the therapeutic relationship. Being listened to unfolds a discovery of new insights, which activates the development of inner strength, resilience, resolve, and purpose, as it gradually releases you from the felt wounds you have been carrying, such as, anger, sadness, grief, regret or loss. "Art Therapy is available for both children and adults. It is a form of psychotherapy that is known to be a gentle way of treating trauma and various emotional struggles. We sometimes find that words cannot express how we feel, especially when we are overwhelmed by strong emotions. Since Art Therapy does not need to solely rely on spoken language, it can access often inaccessible places, so that you can process your thoughts and feelings in a different way. Children who do not have the vocabulary to talk about difficult things can greatly benefit from Art Therapy as well. Only HCPC registered Art Therapists can practise Art Therapy. "

"Being outdoors, in nature can help your mental health. Trusted studies have shown how it can help reduce anxiety, stress, depression and low mood, boost self esteem, and be useful for people in life crisis, feeling stuck or struggling with loss or bereavement. Movement helps you process feelings and thoughts more clearly. If you don't want to sit opposite your therapist in a confined indoor space Outdoor Therapy might be worth a try. Outside you can find your own path, we can wander slowly, walk briskly or find a space to sit for the whole session. Often we will end up doing a mixture of these things, depending on how you feel."

I understand that reaching out to an unfamiliar person can be a challenging experience, so I will do my best to lessen any fears you may have about the counselling process through sharing information about myself and my counselling practice. The first thing I want you to know is that when you contact me I respond. I am very aware that when someone is seeking counselling they don’t want to wait too long for a response. So I make it my priority to be as available "

"You may be feeling down, fed-up, depressed or anxious – or you may just feel a general lack of lust for life. Whatever it is that's currently troubling you, if it has reached the point at which it's affecting the quality of your daily life, therapy could be the first step to understanding what's going on for you and why. Coming to therapy can be an emotional 'journey' which is not always easy, however it is also an opportunity for change, which could be the beginning of living your life differently."

"Therapy helped me. It can help you too. I’ve been where you might be right now…stuck, wanting to change and not knowing how. Embarking on a journey of self-discovery can be daunting and challenging. I’m privileged to be able to guide others to their own transformation. My goal is to help clients find both the meaning for their behaviours as well as a clear understanding of what’s holding them back, always encouraging them to find the “gift of growth” in every situation. My aim is to provide a safe and nurturing space for you to tell your story with no fear of judgement. "

"If you are seeking counselling and psychotherapy, it may be because you are dealing with a specific issue or going through a particularly difficult phase for which you need support. You may have tried to resolve things by yourself but somehow, it didn’t quite work out. You may have found yourself in the all-too-familiar place of slipping back to your old patterns of thoughts, feeling and behaviors despite all the promises and repeated attempts at changing them. Or you may feel that we are doing OK, presenting to the world a well-functioning mask of personal efficiency or professional success, but deep feeling empty and alone."

I offer a safe, confidential space for you to feel heard and accepted. If you need support working through current or past issues, or if you are feeling unhappy, but the reasons are less clear, you are welcome to get in touch. "I am an experienced counsellor and psychotherapist. I believe that the most important part of therapy is that we build a strong and therapeutic relationship together so that you can feel safe to explore your feelings and concerns. We all have times in our life when we need support and it is not always possible to sort things out with the help of family and friends. I would be there to listen and not judge, in a confidential and caring environment. Counselling can feel daunting but can help to empower you to explore and reflect on ways of making changes and moving forward with your life. "

Narrative Counsellors
Narrative Therapy uses the client's storytelling to indicate the way they construct meaning in their lives, rather than focusing on how they communicate their problem behaviours. PL2 Narrative Therapy embraces the idea that stories actually shape our behaviours and our lives and that we become the stories we tell about ourselves. There are helpful narratives we can choose to embrace as well as unhelpful ones. Although it may sound obvious, the power of storytelling is to elevate the client--who is the authority of their narrative--rather than the therapist, as expert. Check these therapists for find Narrative Therapy in PL2.

How can I tell if a counsellor is right for me?
