For the past 20 years I have been developing my skills as a psychological therapist, working with people of all ages and backgrounds. I've worked in inpatient, outpatient, community and hospitals. Private and NHS. I have extensive experience with mental and physical health issues and I believe they are deeply connected. So I've seen a lot, and I've never met anyone I didn't feel I could help, if they wanted and were ready for change. We are all seeking - and deserve - the best life we can make, for ourselves and for those around us. Clinical psychologists, at their best, are 'science-helpers', turning science into a helping art.

Distress is not inevitable or permanent. To move away from distress, something needs to change. Together we can explore that something. Distress can be: anxiety, anger, depression and loss. But you are not a piece of paper to be filed, a case to be studied or a collection of symptoms to be diagnosed. You are a unique. An individual to be fully heard and supported in a safe confidential space or exploration. I counsel change in: response through choice, vulnerability through resilience, resolve through strategy. I work: with compassion and skill, without labels or judgement, but always with a passion for change.

People seek psychotherapy for many different reasons. Sometimes things can feel overwhelming and you don’t feel like you can cope. Some look for support through difficult experiences in life, both past and present; some want to gain a better understanding of their recurrent patterns. If these are familiar with how you have been feeling, I'm here to support you to find out your difficulties and resolve them with you. I believe my relationship with you in the therapeutic process is important for change and transformation. I am compassionate about helping people to find their own ways and treating a variety of clients for many years.

I have trained in existential psychotherapy, and I apply this in my work with clients. The starting point is the experience of the client, to provide the opportunity for them to examine their understanding of life, and the problems and dilemmas they face; to reassess their goals and desires. It provides an opportunity to consider how their choices have been constrained, perhaps by the views and expectations of others, but also by constraints rooted in our society. Understanding can lead to questioning, and growth, possibly in new directions.

Hello, I have many years of specialist training and experience of helping adults and young people who have experienced abuse and trauma in their past which continues to affect many areas of their life even now in the present moment. I can offer early morning and evening therapy via Zoom. People who have worked with me have said that I have been kind, calm, supportive, helpful and non-judgemental in our work together. I understand how difficult it can be to speak about the past and to be vulnerable. I can begin to help you to feel safe enough to work through difficult feelings, emotions and thoughts from our very first session.

I work with people of all ages and backgrounds, at different stages of their lives and with different things that they would like to address. Sometimes people come with something specific such as anxiety or a bereavement, following a relationship breakdown or with obsessive compulsive symptoms. Sometimes people come because they are dissatisfied with work, or relationships; friendships, family or intimate relationships. And sometimes people come because they feel stuck or out of sorts, like they want things to be different and they're not sure how, but they want change somehow. Individuals and couples.

People often feel unsure about starting therapy and it can feel like a big decision to make. I would suggest a one-off consultation to meet. This will allow us time to think together about whether you would consider working with me and how I might be able to support you in making changes to improve your situation.

I love to support people to grow to be the best, and most fully functioning version of themselves possible. The barrier to this looks very different from person to person. Sometimes it will be a difficult past, sometimes a problematic present and maybe even fear about the future, that can bring sadness, rage or terror. The ideal client will be willing to be curious about themselves, and to develop a commitment to exploring what self-knowledge, actions or changes will bring healing, relief and an opening of possibility.

I think we sometimes come to therapy not knowing exactly what it is that's causing us pain. Maybe we feel fear, anger, confusion or just a sense of detachment from who we feel we used to be or could be; sometimes it is only symptoms (such as addictions, eating disorders, OCD) which we can identify. Past, unaddressed, trauma may be arsing or you might be experiencing family or work issues or, maybe, you’re in grief (from a death/relationship breakdown). Whatever your reason for wanting therapy I know that, ultimately, we want to feel better than we do right now.

Mental health is a broad topic. Even nowadays people seem to find it difficult to go to a therapist because of the stigma around mental health. I am here to fight for it ! Seeking help for your mental health is as natural as going to a doctor when you are physically ill or asking for extra hand when you cannot assemble your furniture on your own. Does that not sound natural and normal? So does seeking help for your health. Additionally, there are no such criteria in order to seek help. So in order to seek help it does not mean you have to have a diagnosed mental health problem.

Therapy is a space for you: to feel understood and listened to. Perhaps for the first time. And it is through this fundamental encounter that you can feel more able and alive. Our work together can support you in making a change, reflecting on painful experience, bearing a loss, finding a purpose. It can support you in these - and more - through creating new awareness, making helpful connections and finding a way forward. Therapy provides a way for you to understand, confront, resolve, heal and grow. I provide a safe, welcoming space for you to explore whatever it is that you need and want. In confidence and without judgement.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counsellors are all licensed mental health professionals. In many countries, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counsellor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counsellors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counsellor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counselling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
