Sometimes you want to be heard, truly heard. To have someone to talk to about whatever is on your mind, to be listened to without being judged or told what to do. If you are feeling unheard, anxious, upset or overwhelmed, I am here to listen and help you to explore your feelings, to better understand them and feel more in control. I offer a safe and confidential space where we can explore whatever is troubling you. By exploring your thoughts and feelings, both past and present, I can help you to better understand yourself and to accept and let go of what has been weighing you down, to allow you to move forward.

Asking for help is not easy, especially if you find difficult to talk about things that upset you. Have you been thinking to try counselling but postponing making that call? Finding hard to reach out for help? Going through a challenging time in your relationships or feeling anxious, under the weather, worried for the future? If any of the above resonates and you would like to talk but finding it difficult to take that first step while wondering how therapy could help you, if at all, know that you don't have to do it all on your own.

Personal challenges occur through every stage of life, and they can be difficult to manage alone. In fact, our emotions can lead us to push others away, and isolate ourselves when we may be most in need. Tuning in to how we feel and asking for support is an important first step, and through an initial session we can understand your feelings and perspective and think together about a way forward; importantly this can be your opportunity to see if I am the right ‘fit’ for you. I seek to create a safe and confidential space, developing a trusting relationship so that together we can approach and reach your goals.

Maintaining a work life balance can feel overwhelming at times. You may feel isolated and rather resolve issues alone than burden family or friends. It may be difficult for you put into words what is going in fear of being judged or disregarded. I have been working with adults and young people for 17 years and use a range of approaches. I am warm, approachable and completely non-judgemental allowing you a confidential space to explore issues comfortably. I offer short and long term sessions which are normally 50 minutes each. Our work is tailored to support you and without any pressure. Please feel free to contact me.

Sometimes life gets hard and it's easy to feel 'stuck' or 'lost'. Work, university, stress and relationships can all contribute to these feelings and create inner turmoil. Sometimes we need to recognise and identify patterns in relationships (often starting from childhood) to understand how we relate to others, and why this influences our decisions and thought patterns. Together we can explore your thoughts, feelings and views in a confidential and safe way, allowing you to gain insights and clarity on whatever is troubling you, with the aim of giving you more confidence to make decisions and become the 'you' you were meant to be.

Life's not always easy and there may be times when we need additional help. On the surface you might appear to be doing well, but internally you struggle with painful emotions, you feel exhausted, you think about the past and get stuck in trying to find the best way forward. In our work together I can offer a safe, confidential space to help you gain a deeper understanding of your difficulties and experiences. With this insight comes an opportunity to move forward from issues that keep you stuck in unhelpful relationships and behaviours, and a chance to reconnect to life in a way that feels meaningful and fulfilling.

Sometimes coping with life can become problematic because situations may lead us along a difficult pathway. We may try to understand our own behaviours, thoughts and emotions and those of others, but coping may not be easy. I regard each person as an individual in their own right, so my practice aims to suit diverse clients' needs. I bring together a variety of techniques to support people with a range of issues.

Therapy can be more than just a space to discuss difficulties, it can be a place of learning, healing, playing and growing. It can be a place where you can process the past, so that you're able to move forward into the life that you want to create for yourself.

People from all walks of life start therapy, for different reasons. You might be feeling overwhelmed and not wanting to handle difficulties without support anymore; or be feeling confused, conflicted and just need help to understand things more clearly. Therapy provides a safe, confidential and consistent space to start exploring some of the things about ourselves that can be difficult to understand. Being heard properly for the first time can often be an important first step in the process. People come with depression, anxiety, family issues or just a feeling something isn't quite right.

I am a BACP accredited Counsellor/ Psychotherapist. I have worked with people suffering from anxiety and depression for many years. During the last year many clients have made a successful transition to online or telephone work; we are now pleased to be back in person whilst being mindful that the situation could change if infection rates rise again. It may be that you are struggling with the many sudden losses and changes that the pandemic has imposed on our daily lives, and you are feeling under pressure now to ‘return to normal’ even though some things have changed forever.

I am an Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist, who is a free spirited and creative person. My professional background varies from working with mild to severe adult mental health, to working with special needs and hard to reach children and young people in education. During times of uncertainty surrounding us at the moment, where multiple challenges are thrown in our direction, feeling overwhelmed, out of sync, heightened stressed levels, and increased anxiety are very normal. These feelings may have been apparent beforehand and now feel more intense.

What type of mental health professional is right for me?
Some of the most common types of mental health providers in N21 are psychologists, licensed counsellors, therapists, and psychotherapists, all of whom diagnose mental health conditions and provide individualised treatment.

Services offered, education, and credentials vary by type of mental health professional. Each professional in N21 then may specialise in certain areas, such as depression, marriage counselling, or anxiety. Although many mental health providers are not licensed to prescribe medication, they may coordinate with a provider who can.

Both in-person and online therapy sessions are available from most psychologists.
How to find a specialist?
You can refine your search using the filters on this page. There are several categories you can filter by to find mental health professionals with the experience you are looking for. You may want to filter for CBT Psychologists in N21, or Child Psychologists in N21.

Many find it useful to use filters to view only psychologists that have experience working with certain issues, like N21 psychologists specialising in EMDR.

What method of therapy is right for me?
When it comes to treatment methods, there's no 'right way.’ Each method of therapy can be beneficial for a variety of issues. Psychologists in N21 specialise in therapeutic approaches such as CBT, EMDR, and Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), among others. Finding a psychologist or counsellor who is a good fit for you is the most important step to discovering what type of therapy, or combination of therapeutic approaches, will meet your individual needs. Learn what to expect from different types of therapy and how they work.

Can I afford counselling?
Yes. Most counsellors offer reasonable rates or will work on a sliding scale basis. Many accept health insurance. Feel free to discuss this when you contact the counsellor.
