I am a psychotherapist and clinical supervisor to trainees in counselling & psychotherapy.
I have a long-standing career in mental health spanning more than 30 years as a mental health nurse, researcher and senior academic in various Universities teaching mental health and psychology. I have worked with people experiencing a wide range of issues from mild to enduring mental health difficulties and have used a variety of different helping approaches under supervision. I also work with the media to offer my expertise. I have worked as a practitioner psychologist.
I am experienced in a variety of therapies including Integrative Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement De-Sensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR) and other approaches. I also value working with compassion focused therapy. I am a Europe Accredited EMDR Therapist.
I will value working with you every step of the way. My approaches stem from my core values as a person; relational, person-centred and compassionate to help you explore yourself. I often integrate my previous research into my practice which includes behaviour change skills and techniques for overcoming struggles with motivation and low confidence.
