Hi I'm Melissa, I'm an experienced Counsellor offering Person Centred Counselling to Individuals and Couples on weekdays by appointment. Person Centred Counselling is an approach which empowers the client and allows them to determine the direction Counselling may go in so that they can address, process and resolve the issues they have brought to Counselling. I am also an approved Adoption Support Counsellor. This work legally requires specialist training which I completed in 2023 with the Barnardo's LINK Certificate in Adoption Support Counselling. This covers Counselling for Adoptees, Adoptive parents, Birth parents and Family.
A variety of tools are available depending on the needs and interests of the client. These range from journal keeping, to visualisations, breathing practices, colour and image work and role-play to name just a few. I have over 20 years experience of working therapeutically, incorporating my Counselling training with my extensive knowledge of Yoga and Art.
I work with clients in an empathic way, seeking to understand their experience as fully as possible, through what they tell me in sessions, and also through body language and patterns of behaviour. I offer a safe, non-judgemental space for clients to explore their issues, and work with respect and consideration.
