You are possibly feeling very low and anxious and in need of a neutral and non-judgemental place to turn. I offer Person Centred Therapy - a Humanistic Approach that deals with the ways in which a person consciously perceives themselves. I am client-led, I do not offer you advice, but trust that the relationship we develop together will allow you to find what you need. Good rapport with your Counsellor's the first step towards achieving change. My Counselling approach is different to anything my clients (both Adults & Children) have experienced before and it's because of this, they've felt at ease quickly and gained maximum benefit from their sessions. I've Counselled since 2019 and have a diverse range of additional skills that I integrate into my Counselling work. I work with Victims of Crime within Kent, as well as Children & Families who've been bereaved. I have over 10yrs experience working with Children & Young People, including those with additional needs, so my approach is inclusive.

I am an experienced, humanistic, relational counsellor . I trained and work integratively. This means I use several different models of counselling intertwined, leaning more to one than the others as required by the individual. These include Person Centred, CBT, Psychodynamic and Existential . Post qualifying, I have trained extensively in working with trauma. I believe the quality of the relationship between client and counsellor is very important. I see my clients in private, quiet and comfortable rooms in Gillingham town centre with public car parks available nearby and easy access to public transport link.

Are you feeling overwhelmed, emotionally stuck, or exhausted from trying to hold everything together? Maybe you're constantly overthinking, feeling low, or just not like yourself lately. You might be managing work, relationships, or daily life on the outside, but inside, something feels off. I help adults who are struggling with anxiety, depression, and burnout create more space to breathe, reflect, and feel like themselves again. Whether you’re dealing with racing thoughts, low energy, emotional numbness, or simply the sense that you’re no longer coping in the way you used to, I can help.

I work best with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, PTSD, low self-esteem, and burnout, often at a point in their lives where they feel stuck, or sense that something needs to change. Together, we start by understanding the ways of being that once served them: how they developed, how they worked, and the effect they're having now. From there, we experiment with new ways of being that align more closely with who they are today, and how they want to move forward. I offer neurodivergent-affirming therapy and provide a welcoming, inclusive space for people of all genders, identities, and sexual orientations.

Hi, I’m Lynda, a counsellor based in Rochester. You might be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, anxious, or carrying a grief that’s hard to explain. Maybe something has changed in your life, or perhaps it’s been building for a while. I offer a calm, steady space where you don’t have to hold it all alone. We’ll take things at your pace. Sometimes we may sit with what’s heavy; other times, we might begin to gently untangle it. Together, we’ll explore ways to cope and feel more grounded in who you are.

In psychotherapy there is an opportunity to get to know yourself in depth and discover new ways of living your life. Often we have repetitive patterns and ways of thinking that can for instance cause suffering, frustration, anxiety and sadness in our life. Despite our best efforts to decide to behave and relate differently, we drift back to our old ways of being and behaving. In psychotherapy we will work at getting to know your unconscious inner life. A lot of feelings and thoughts we have are not conscious and psychotherapy gives you the opportunity to reflect and try out new ways when you feel change is needed.

I offer a space that’s not about labels or quick fixes, but about you — your experiences, what you’re carrying, and what you need to feel more like yourself again. Occasionally, we find ourselves experiencing a wide range of difficulties. It could be anxiety, low self-esteem, depression, grief, or just a sense that you do not feel good enough no matter how hard you try. Whatever the reason, I understand that it can feel incredibly isolating and as if no one seems to understand you or how you are feeling. It can reach a point where we begin to recognise that something has got to change; but are just not sure what that is yet. I truly believe that part of the healing power is the ability to untangle your thoughts and feelings freely, without the fear of judgement and being truly heard.

Many of the people I work with appear to be coping well on the outside—but internally feel overwhelmed, anxious, or disconnected. I specialise in supporting high-achieving professionals who are used to performing at a high level, yet find themselves struggling with stress, burnout, or difficulties in their relationships. You may be feeling constantly under pressure, overthinking everything, or noticing that your work is starting to impact your personal life. In relationships, this can show up as repeated arguments, emotional distance, or a sense that you and your partner are no longer on the same page.

Whilst diagnosis can be helpful for some people, my approach to therapy is not led by your diagnosis, but instead by your lived experience, your goals for therapy and your preferences. Our work will be a partnership - I bring psychological expertise and skills, whilst you are the expert of your own experience. It is by working together that we can find a way forward for you.

I am a UKCP-accredited Gestalt psychotherapist. My approach is relational, embodied, and trauma-informed, rooted in the belief that healing begins in connection. I support clients in slowing down, becoming curious about their experiences, and discovering new ways of relating to themselves and others — attending not only to words, but to what is felt, held in the body, and left unsaid.I work with individuals carrying complex histories — including trauma, migration, neurodivergence, or experiences of marginalisation. Many of my clients have relied on survival strategies that helped them survive in the past but now keep them stuck.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

Counsellors and Psychotherapists listed in the directory are members of the main professional associations, mainly the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). Most Psychologists in the directory are accredited members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and/or are registered in the Health and Care Professions Council (HPCP).

Providers whose professional membership or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Given that professional memberships are not a statutory requirement for psychotherapists and counsellors in the UK, certain qualified professionals or organisations may choose not to maintain such memberships despite possessing the necessary qualifications. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?

Counsellors, psychotherapists and psychologists can all provide counselling or talking therapy and have credentials and experience that enable them to do so in the UK. Psychologists have earned a degree in psychology and many are members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and have completed a postgraduate qualification in a specialism. Counsellors and Psychotherapists are not required to have a psychology degree, but to belong to a professional organisation such as the BACP or UKCP, they are required to have completed a training course as well as clinical and supervision hours.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the UK could be between £30 - £60 when seeing a counsellor and £60 - £150 and up when seeing a clinical psychologist. If you have private insurance, your plan may cover some if not all of your sessions. You should contact your insurance provider to determine if they provide coverage for therapy sessions and to determine what, if any, requirements they might have in order for your sessions to be covered, such as a referral from your GP or medical specialist.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

If you are struggling to access therapy due to budget constraints, you could also consider public funded mental health services. The NHS Talking therapies programme offers free of charge counselling for common mental health problems like anxiety and depression. The service is available to anyone registered with a GP, though you do not necessarily need to be referred by your GP and can refer yourself directly to a Talking therapies service. The service will provide different solutions, including group and individual therapy, for a limited number of sessions which are generally up to six.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Therapists who are part of a professional organisation such as the BACP, the UKCP, or BPS are bound by an ethical framework that requires them to uphold a confidentiality agreement. Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship and only under specific circumstances, such as when there has been participation in a criminal act or act of terror, or if there is potential or known harm to the client or others, will a therapist be obligated to break the agreement. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed during the initial consultation.
