I am an experienced psychotherapist working with people of all ages, to help them towards finding a more fulfilling way of life. My style of working is based on the building up of a trusting and open relationship between us, which is the basis for all our therapeutic work. I believe our experiences as children, whether good or bad, affect us throughout our lives; and by being given the time and space to 'tell our story', we develop more insight into why we are the way we are. These insights then guide us towards finding ways to change what we want to change, and value those qualities in ourselves that are beneficial.
‘No man is an island’, John Donne, or to put it another way “it’s the relationship that heals” Irvin Yalom. I strongly believe that if our relationships, whether within family or the workplace are in good order, then we generally feel well. I particularly like working with new mothers.
I would call the way I work ‘relational’ which means engaging with you in a truly open and transparent way, and together we work with your difficulty in a confidential and safe environment. I’ve had 20 years experience of counselling in the NHS, working with issues from moderate to severe, and 25+ in private practice.
