I help couples and relationship constellations reduce conflict and trauma in order to increase emotional safety, communicate and set boundaries with more clarity and confidence and ensure that everyone's needs are met, understood and honoured. I work at the intersections of difference and welcome marginalised identities whether BIPOC, LGBTQ+ and gender diverse, neurodivergent, non-monogamous and beyond providing a supportive and judgement-free space where you don't need to explain who you are or the wider political context you exist in and where you can access practical tools that make a difference.

We all find life hard some of the time, and sometimes, it can feel like it's not getting any easier. We all want things to be different, we want change. But change is hard, and it’s harder to change alone. I help people with their difficulties. I help people to make the changes they need to make, to heal, to get back on their feet, to integrate past difficult experiences, and to finally live fuller and deeper lives.

Is life hard at the moment? Are you struggling with feelings of sadness, anxiety, depression, anger, confusion, hopelessness? Do you know that something needs to change but you're not sure where to start or how to do it? Do you want someone to help you make sense of why you’re feeling the way you are and support you to make changes to your thinking, the way you relate to others and the actions you take on a day to day basis?

Hi I’m Loz, my pronouns are they/them. I believe that to create a nurturing space where you feel safe and open to explore the challenges that have brought you to counselling, I need to be the most genuine and empathetic version of myself I can be. Sharing my humanness with you is important to me and this is what guided me to become a Person-Centred counsellor. Our sessions will be led by you, allowing you to work at your own pace, while I take a gentle and holding approach to being alongside you through your journey.

I am an experienced counsellor specialising in supporting neurodivergent and LGBTQ+ clients. I take a person-centred approach, which means that there is no formulating a treatment plan, no homework, no trying to 'fix you'. I don't think anyone is broken - we all do amazingly well considering what we've been through and where we are right now. I’m here to offer you a space to be you, all of you, just as you are, without judgment. A chance to be heard, believed and valued.

I believe that the 3 most common reasons leading people to seek therapy are Anger, Sadness & Belief System. This belief system could be one you were taught by somebody else or one you have created that is not serving you, for example feeling that you are not enough or that you are unloveable. I offer safety and support with the unbearable. I provide guidance in your discovery and unpacking of baggage. I use creative methods: art, body work, play therapy and nature.

I work with all clients from all walks of life, backgrounds, professions, and presenting issues, and I have years of experience in working with trauma and sexual violence. I recognise the complexity of trauma and the impact it can have on someone’s life, that it is often multi-faceted, a complicated tapestry with no simple beginning or end. This journey may take us through your relationships (past and present), as well as deconstructing harmful myths and narratives that may have disempowered you. My specialisms also include working with LGBTQ+ and TBI clients on all issues, such as exploring gender dysphoria and discrimination.

If you are looking at this website, then I would like to be bold and guess that you are thinking about taking a brave step towards seeking help from a therapist? You might feel that you are 'not yourself', maybe you would like to be able to talk about a difficult past or current difficulty but are not sure how? Maybe the relationships in your family feel strained or difficult? Whether you would like support as an individual, couple, family or chosen family I would be privileged to support you in finding your way through the trees to be able to see the whole wood. I look forward to meeting you.

There are many reasons you might be looking for therapy or counselling: you might be feeling low, anxious or have a particular life problem you are finding overwhelming - grief, heartbreak, or trauma. Perhaps you feel ready to break out of an old pattern or make a change, or build your self esteem, learning to love who you already are, with all your imperfections, vulnerabilities, and beauty. But if you are seeking therapy, you are probably suffering - perhaps I can listen, and share that burden with you. I wonder if, together, we could put the pieces of your story together and find our way through the underworld, back to your life.

Marriage Counselling

How does marriage counseling work?

Marriage counseling works by teaching couples concrete skills to communicate with one another and solve disagreements in healthy ways. A trained mental health professional works with both members of a couple to explore difficulties the couple may be having and helps them develop skills to address these matters. Couples who don’t have any difficulties but want to prepare for marriage may develop skills for the future.

How long does marriage counseling typically last?

Marriage counseling is a short-term form of therapy; the process may last between four and eight sessions. Other forms of relationship guidance from mental health professionals, such as couples therapy, are longer lasting, may focus on the past rather than just the present, and are tailored to the individual couple and their emotions, history, and patterns in the relationship. Couples therapy often lasts for 12 weeks or longer.

Is marriage counseling effective?

Marriage counseling helps many couples develop relationship skills that may not have been acquired or tested in a relationship; partners may be better able to communicate and address conflict following counseling. However, there are many different forms of marriage counseling, and this form of counseling does not have as strong an evidence base as other modalities such as couples therapy.

Is marriage counseling effective if only one partner wants to go?

Yes, marriage counseling can still be effective if one partner convinces the other to engage in the process. Of course, whether counseling is effective depends on the couple’s commitment to work on their relationship; however, the short-term, skills-based nature of marriage counseling makes it a relatively easy “ask” of a partner, and the hesitant individual may see its value once counseling begins.
