I am an experienced Child, Young Person and Parent Psychotherapist, based in Harrogate. There are times when we can all struggle emotionally. For children and young people it can often be difficult to understand and express their emotions and thoughts. Sometimes this leads to overwhelming and confusing feelings. Behaviours seem stuck. Often resulting in low self-esteem and relationship struggles with peers or family. Psychotherapy that is age appropriate, offered in a therapeutic space can scaffold the understanding of emotions, and develop communication skills to be able to express thoughts, and build their emotional resilience.
I have undergone many years of in-depth specialist training to understand the complexity of the young brain, developmental stages and attachment. I provide a range of therapeutic approaches, including play, creative and talking. I work with adopted families. I provide therapeutic coaching for ASD/ADHD. I also offer therapeutic sessions for parents.
There are times when life events such as family separation, loss, bullying, school refusal and every day struggles effects our mental health. The impact on families that anxiety, anger, illness, panic attacks and other issues can be significant.
