I am a trauma-informed and experienced (12yrs) Humanistic Integrative LGBTQ affirmative counsellor. I was based at Over the Rainbow Sexual Health Clinic in Bournemouth until 2017. I've facilitated LGBTQ+ and wellbeing groups for Dorset Mind prior to starting my full time private practice.
Due to cis, hetero and mono normativity, many LGBTQ+ people haven't felt safe enough to connect with their deepest thoughts, feelings and needs. I provide a safe, informed and affirmative space. I integrate Mindfulness, CBT, CPT, DBT Skills Training, IFS and Emotional Freedom Techniques to address the impact of trauma on the brain and body.
I have worked with people who have experienced trauma and dissociation. Many people, including LGBTQ people, struggle to identify, connect with, explore and express deep-seated emotions due to feeling or being made to feel different or unacceptable by society, family or friends. I help people to recognise that their feelings and experiences are not unusual.
