I am a counsellor and registered general nurse specialising in occupational health, and my priorities have been about the physical and psychological care of my patients and clients. I use the biopsychosocial model to support clients' biological, psychological and social experiences and issues. I listen to why the client feels they need therapy, and we discuss the most appropriate way forward which may include, for example, CBT or solution-focussed therapy. I am welcoming and trustworthy and my approach to clients is irrespective of gender, sexual orientation, race or religious beliefs.

There are many reasons why people reach out for support. There may be a specific reason, you may want to understand yourself better, you could be struggling to cope, feel anxious or depressed, or something might not 'feel right'. It is important to me that we build a good relationship between us so that we can work together to explore whatever you bring, at your own pace, without judgement.

Choosing a therapist can be a tricky task, there are just so many! As a guide, a big factor for therapeutic success is 'connection' - also known as 'the therapeutic alliance'. There is little you can see from a profile but perhaps take a moment to pause and check inwardly whether there is potential for a good therapeutic relationship. This practice is known as 'focusing'. I frequently use this method to help my clients access edge of awareness experiences that often were part of their life for many years. If you'd like to explore parts of yourself that you find burdening or at least unhelpful my approach may be of help.

Life can be overwhelming at times and it’s hard to know what to do for the best. The Covid era has been a strange time that’s tested relationships, problematised goals, brought great suffering, loss and anxiety, and made even straightforward decisions and plans feel impossible. Even aside from recent events, it’s so rare in our day-to-day lives to have chance to pause, reflect, and explore what we want and what the blocks might be to getting it. I'd like to work with you if you've ever felt stuck, lost, confused, lonely, sad, uncertain or guilty about anything, past or present - we can explore and untangle those feelings together.

“I feel like quite a different person! Dov has taught me to learn from myself what's important in life, who's important in life, and that I'm actually one of the most important people in life. I would say that the work has been tremendous! His time, the way in which he helps you to open up and really evaluate what's going on and also his so many years of his own experience passes over to you. So it oozes confidence for you to then feel that "I can also be like that myself", which has been really, really helpful for me. Amanda Marks, London

I am a qualified psychotherapist, life coach, trainer and supervisor, with over 20 years experience in private practice. I work with adults who may be encountering life's stressors to a greater-than-usual degree or may be struggling to find their way forward in a diverse range of circumstances. These may be from personal or professional sources but usually involve our own, perhaps not very helpful, habitual ways of dealing with such difficulties - we all can revert to old habits in times of trouble. I am available to do both short- and long-term work according to need.

I became a therapist because I like people - I like to understand their stories and how that has brought them to where they are. When you are feeling stuck because of anxiety or depression it is usually pretty difficult to believe anyone would want to listen. Well I do. I want to help you discover and explore the events, thoughts, feelings, and patterns of behaviour that have made you feel trapped so that you can make changes. Imagine being able to see your friends, attend events, even just sleep, without anxious or self critical thoughts wearing you down. That is what therapy with me can offer.

We all have periods in our life when we feel low, anxious or stuck, sometimes our thoughts overwhelm us and this might be the point where we want to reach out for support. Talking therapy can help you to feel empowered and in control, instead of feeling overwhelmed and unsure about what to do next. I believe in a collaborative approach and will work with you to determine what will be most helpful to you in reaching your goals. Sometimes though, as I've realised over the years, the most powerful 'tool' I can offer you, is the time and space to feel heard which can be so profound and transformative in its own right.

I understand that starting counselling or therapy can feel a bit like embarking on a new journey, when you can’t see where it leads. It can help to know that you’re not on that journey alone, and to work with a therapist who moves at a safe pace for you. The relationship between counsellor and client is incredibly important and you are probably looking for someone that makes you feel safe, accepted, and understood.

How can I find a therapist in M25?
Search for nearby therapists or counsellors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or postcode; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or postcode into the search bar.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counsellors are all licensed mental health professionals. In many countries, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counsellor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counsellors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counsellor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counselling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
