Our past and present are intimately linked by our memories. Our memories are heavily influenced and based on feelings we had surrounding an event or experience. These experiences may be impacting your life right now, even the ones that might seem irrelevant or insignificant. If we don't become aware of this connection it will keep affecting our future, which over time can cause us stress. Prolonged stress can manifest itself in physical forms, including illness, lack of energy, problems with sleep, headaches, depression and anxiety. When you are mentally healthy you are able to handle life's challenges.

In some respects, by visiting my page, you’ve already made the biggest step. Recognising you need some support is often scary, but this may become the first step in the journey to become the best version of you. You may be at a point in your life when you feel stuck, and unable to move on, and don’t know what to do - this is absolutely ok. You may feel that your life could improve and that you could live it more fully - definitely ok. You may have noticed you keep repeating unhelpful behaviour patterns this is ok, too. It is ok, not to be ok.

You might find yourself here because you are dealing with an issue that feels overwhelming or you might want to take some time and space to talk about something that has been bothering you for a while. Counselling offers a safe, non-judgemental and confidential space to explore things. Counselling works, not by fixing people, but by supporting you through your own truths and aiding you to trust and understand yourself. It is an entirely safe space where you can truly be listened to and understood without any judgement by someone not involved in your every day life.

I am a Counsellor based in Manchester offering In person and online sessions. Life can be challenging, and in places it can feel intolerable and overwhelming it can be difficult to know where to start unravelling this, how to make changes, what changes, if any, we need to make, and to try to make sense of why we feel the way that we do. This can be a very painful experience but however dark it may be today, doesn't mean tomorrow won't be lighter, counselling can offer an opportunity to be heard and to be understood. I work with clients from all backgrounds but have particular experience working with Addiction and with LGBT+ issues.

Because the foundations of security begin in relationship and specifically, the first relationship we experience with our primary caregivers. I believe in the importance of relationship within the therapeutic setting.  You will have the opportunity to examine how you relate to yourself internally and with others interpersonally. We will look at present-day relationships as well as childhood influences, and how these impact on the formation of self.  Safety, care and compassion are my guiding principals when working therapeutically.

You’re functioning. But you’re not fully at ease. You show up, you manage, you keep going. From the outside, things might even look fine. But internally - there’s pressure, overthinking, or a sense that something isn’t quite right.

I offer the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT - tapping) which is like acupuncture but without the needles. You tap on specific parts of your body whilst working on difficult experiences or emotions. It is an evidenced based treatment which means it has a robust body of research demonstrating its effectiveness. It's as effective as CBT. It helps a large variety of difficulties. It works by activating the parasympathetic nervous system (the system that makes the body relaxed) whilst thinking about difficult things so that the brain then associates the difficulties with relaxation in the future rather than distress.
