Counselling can seem a challenge if you have never sought this kind of help before, but my aim at the outset is to provide the beginnings of a therapeutic relationship which can open the door to an exploration of experience of the past, as well as the present. The aim of therapy can be specific, or obscure, but together we will work towards an achievable goal. I work intuitively, but with firm boundaries aimed at keeping us both safe within a very special relationship. Therapy can be long term, or short term, but it is the client who decides what number of sessions is going to be most beneficial. I am a Trauma Informed therapist.
As a trained Trauma Informed therapist I offer a safe, non-judgemental and confidential environment. As a bereavement counsellor, my specialist area is bereavement through suicide. Bereavement and loss can be bewildering experiences producing many deeply troubling feelings which we work through together.
An empathic response is essential in the building of the relationship which is acknowledged to be the bedrock of successful therapy. To this end, I will always suggest a conversation on the phone before arranging a session, although initial contact can be made via email or text. An assessment is made to ensure that we can form an ethical working alliance.
