My aim is to help explore the difficulties that individuals and families are wanting support with and then be honest and transparent in the ways in which I am able to help. I am able to offer individual sessions, family sessions and a mix of both when required. I recognise that engaging with someone new can be daunting for young people and their families and therefore initially I prioritise helping people to feel comfortable to share their problems. I am able to assess and contribute towards assessment for Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC) alongside a multidiscplinary team.
I have over 10 years’ experience working in NHS and private sector. I have experience working with young people and their carers with mental health problems including anxiety, low mood, school refusal and self-harm. I have experience with young people who have social and emotional difficulties which are having an impact on their wellbeing and relationships.
I use a range of evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Video Interaction Guidance (VIG), Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and Dyadic Developmental Practice (DDP). I am recently trained in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy.
