Hello I’m Louise, an accredited counsellor & psychotherapist with over 20yrs experience working in the NHS. My work as an ICU nurse led to my interest in supporting people with their trauma recovery. I have particular expertise in healing from complex trauma, PTSD & anxiety through my work & research in this area.
I also provided counselling to NHS staff for 10yrs so have a broader range of experience too, supporting people with bereavement, stress, issues related to childhood, relationship difficulties, depression and experiences around pregnancy, birth & postpartum.
We don’t THINK anxiety, depression or symptoms of trauma, we FEEL them. Our emotions override our logic. This is why we can’t THINK our way out of trauma, we need to work at a nervous system level, where it’s held in our bodies. To achieve somatic healing I use a ‘bottom up’ approach, working with body sensations, breath-work & visualisations.
Healing from trauma is not only possible but transformative. I integrate my original person centred &psychodynamic training with modern trauma informed approaches. I use the Comprehensive Resource model (CRM) and am SE, IFS & DBR informed.
