Currently taking on new clients. I work with individual adults in person from my home and online. I mostly do long-term work but also have significant experience of shorter, time limited work. My areas of specialism are working with trauma from a body focussed perspective, with people who identify as LGBTQ+ and those with ADHD and ASD. Many of my clients have experiences of feeling 'different' and who struggle to find their place in the world. There is always something new to learn for both therapist and client and whilst therapeutic work is not always easy, it can be incredibly rewarding and enlightening.
I am trained in Somatic Experiencing and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, approaches rooted in the understanding that we hold memories of traumatic experiences in our bodies and that talking is only part of the healing proces. I have extensive training and experience in working with LGBQ folk and those whose gender identity is not straightforward.
Life can be hard and in spite of the many challenges we face being a normal part of being human, they can be incredibly confronting and many people feel quite lost as to how to deal with them. Add into the mix, a difficult start in life, feeling bad about yourself, trauma, then dealing with those challenges becomes even harder.
