Audre Lorde’s statement that “we don’t live single-issue lives” is no clearer than when in the therapy room. As such, I aim to recognise your world as a complex web of social, cultural and political factors where problems in living can emerge, and that can cause you to feel disconnected from yourself and others. I also hold in mind that pain may be historical and generational.
My practice is guided by intersectional, anti-oppressive and liberation psychology principles which means that I consider how power and inequality can show up in our lives and in our relationships. It is therefore important for me to create a safe holding space where together we can examine the factors that are negatively impacting your mental health.
As a pluralist I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach so I pull from various pools of knowledge and creative practices, and collaborate with you to adapt my approach to what you need at any moment in time.
